Daily Briefings Yes, But Reporters No

Ever since the coronavirus became a household word and the American people started to worry about its tremendous impact, President Donald Trump and his task force have held daily media briefings. At these events, the president will usually make an announcement and then introduce members of his team who have important information to share with the American people. It is quite helpful to hear from these tireless public servants who are working day and night to save the lives of countless Americans.

What is not helpful is the question and answer session from the media that follows the opening remarks. Inevitably, liberal reporters will play “gotcha” games with the president and his task force. The goal is to embarrass the president and his administration rather than to provide any useful facts to the American people.

In recent days, reporters have been hyperventilating about the president’s use of the term “Chinese virus,” to describe this health threat. They are insistent that it is a racist term, forgetting that epidemics are often given a title that reflects where the disease originated. For example, the “Asian flu” pandemic of 1957-58 originated in China, the pandemic of 1968 was called the “Hong Kong” flu and the virus which began in 1937 in Uganda was called “West Nile” after the region from which it started.

In this pandemic, reporters seem to be more interested in political correctness than in providing important life-saving information to the American people. What the president has stated repeatedly is that identifying the “Chinese” origins of the flu is not racist, but very important, because state media sources in the communist country have been trying to publicize the lie that the United States military planted the virus in China.

Of course, the communist dictators are trying to evade responsibility for not only the origins of the virus but also their incompetence in stopping the spread of the disease. From the beginning of this crisis, Chinese leaders have used draconian media censorship to prevent the world from knowing about the existence and dangers of the coronavirus.

While some of the liberal reporters have been blasting the president for his choice of words in describing the coronavirus, others have been claiming that he is being too optimistic with the American people. On Friday, in his news conference, the president tangled with Peter Alexander of NBC News. He claimed that the president was trying to put a positive spin on the news that a drug used to treat Malaria, Chloroquine, may be useful in treating coronavirus.

In essence, Alexander claimed that the president was giving Americans false hope. He said, “What do you say to Americans who are watching you right now who are scared?” The president replied by telling Alexander, “you’re a terrible reporter…The American people are looking for answers and they’re looking for hope, and you’re doing sensationalism.”

Hooray for the curt response that President Trump gave Alexander and many of the other reporters over the last few days. Alexander is typical of almost all the reporters at the daily press briefings. Most of them are liberals who work for liberal news agencies. They have an agenda, which is, first and foremost, to inflict political damage on President Trump.

The left-wing media are so offended that the president has told the truth, many are now calling for a boycott of his briefings. A columnist for The Washington Post, Margaret Sullivan, tweeted that “The media must stop live-broadcasting Trump’s dangerous, destructive coronavirus briefings.”

The media are also upset that the president is showing leadership that is being appreciated by the American people. The latest ABC News poll, which is similar to several other recent surveys, indicated that the president enjoyed a strong 55% approval rating from the American people for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Going forward, it would be a better idea for the president to hold these important briefings without the media. The sessions would be shorter, the task force could spend more time on important matters and the American people would not be subjected to unfair reporters trying to score political points on the president of the United States.

Last year, new White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham disbanded the daily press briefings. It was a very wise move because too many of the reporters were being abusive toward the president and the White House press secretary. This inappropriate behavior was apparent from the very beginning of the Trump administration.

This media behavior has been harmful to our country, but, in the crisis today, it is even more damaging. Allowing biased reporters to ask questions is certainly not serving any sort of purpose, other than to badger the president and the members of his task force. It is time to end the charade.

That sounds a little familiar. Pull all press credentials and remove said liars from the WH grounds. Release a written statement as needed or have a single shared camera feed to all the nutworks. Carry on. Anyone doubt that some POS reporter would want to infect the president or some member of the administration during one of the briefings. Far fetched? I don’t think so. But that’s just me.

The reporters should at least be required to wear masks.

Time for video conferencing with the press. Let the President speak from the Oval Office.

About time.

Their hostile questions are evolving into “Mayor De Blasio correctly stated you killed people and continue killing more with your policies. How do you cope with the guilt of being a killer?”

If they had any character, Lawrence O’Donnell who said the above nearly word for word last week, would be on his knees seeking God’s forgiveness for slandering an innocent man. But don’t hold your breath for that.

Actually keeping the reporters there is helpful. It shows that President Trump has been right about the media being the enemy. As Americans tune in to see just how corrupt they are it shines a light on how incapable they are of truthful reporting and will spin things to fit their agenda.

This is true, my FRiend.

The alleged "news" reporters streak their hysterical "gotcha" objectives only to set DJT up as being presidential and in control and working tirelessly in our best interests.

Since you haven’t seen all the press conferences, I thought youi might really appreciate the pointed jabs the President inflicted on this reporter. It was so appropriate!

You’re not alone in those thoughts, for sure. The monica media is bought and paid for by the communist Chinese and globalists. They’re part of the enemy camp and there is no way in hell they should be allowed anywhere near any of the administration officials right now...period!!! They are NOT to be trusted.
As you suggested; send them a written email briefing to the evil POSs and do the daily briefings via of single video feed for the People to stay informed, then leave it at that. IF the monica media doesn’t like it, they can all pack sand where the sun don’t shine and go straight to hell without passing GO while they’re at it.

I have a slightly different idea.

Press briefings, attended by press corp. No questions allowed.

POTUS reads questions submitted by local press from around the country. Those to be interpreted as constructive or instructive to the citizens.

Biden starts his “briefings” tomorrow. I predict the first thing will be an attack on Trump for “his irresponsible encouraging of using a drug known to cause heart problems”. Will Joe take questions? We know they will throw softballs but even that is dangerous for Biden. They might hit him hard in the hope he screws up so bad that it opens up for Cuomo.

Time for video conferencing with the press.

Yes, and include people from all over the country, not just a handful of puffed up blowhards who live in DC

I have been saying this for days now. Let the press exercise their rights with written questions.

I hear Rush mocking them, “Mr. President, Mr. President.” They may have a job to do but the way they are doing it disgraces both them and the job.

And stupid. “Is this affecting your hotel business?” A gift for the obvious. What a fool she was and just kept asking the same stupid line of questions.
