New Hampshire retail stores are being ordered to temporarily transition to the use of single-use paper or plastic bags because of the risk that reusable bags could pose a risk of transmission of the coronavirus.
In the order issued late Saturday, Gov. Chris Sununu directed all grocers and retail stores in New Hampshire to transition to use only new paper or plastic grocery bags provided by stores as soon as feasibly possible.
Our grocery store workers are on the front lines of COVID-19, working around the clock to keep New Hampshire families fed, the governor said in a statement. With identified community transmission, it is important that shoppers keep their reusable bags at home given the potential risk to baggers, grocers and customers.

Scandalous! I thought Mother Earth was more important than any mere human.
Arrgghhh, I’m blind now!
So, those reusable bags spread germs? Well, duh. Disposable bags are not only more sanitary, they are better for the environment. Don’t even recycle the plastic - the Chinese dumps our plastics in the ocean. The US has more than enough landfill space. Recycling makes no sense. It’s part of the earth worshippers’ religion.
Where’s dumb a** Cuomo....we’ve been telling this from the beginning.
If Cuomo’s and Albany’s expletive-deleted plastic bag ban is spreading this....
But, but what about the environment, and landfills and saving then planet and, and.
Redneck ppe?
Minus the plastic bag over the head
What passes for Pubbies in the legislature have been trying to get a 2 month reprieve through, but last I knew it was going nowhere.
HAH!
Ive been saying that all along - but would Greta listen to me? noooo
Just read...they moved the date to May 1st. Too bad no one knows about it.

Seriously, Mark Steyn said last week on Rush’s show that when some older lady brings the same Charlie Rose plastic bags she got for donating to PBS in 2009, she is spreading the old bacteria and microbes all over the store and the cart, the conveyor belt, the cashier, the bagger and us.
These aren’t really being washed and disinfected. Third World countries are slow to have one use bags and bottles (reusable drink bottles spread, too—including big empty water gallon bottles touching the spout). US stopped spreading germs by having single use items. Too bad for AOC and Greta.
Enforcement’s been postponed. I don’t know of any retailers that will order up plastic bags again and rejigger their points of sale to accommodate their use.
Albany should have just repealed the damn law.
Everyone washes and sterilizes their reusables weekly, right?
You know, to get all the soil bacteria, meat juices and, you know, coronavirus off them?
Progressives in 2018: We must BAN plastic shopping bags to save the planet.
Progressives in 2020: Screw the planet, save the humans.
Reality, Paul Krassner once wrote, is silly putty.
And I’ll bet merchants will still be charging for paper, even those not required by law to do so.

How about those personal reusable coffee cups at Starbucks?
That’s right! Germs and viruses wouldn’t dare hop on some virtuous, Erf-saving greeny’s reusable canvas bags!
If they want to use their own reusable bag, they must bag their own groceries.
Why does the governor have to direct?
I am getting a little fed up with this made up pandemic, germaphobe power grab.
