The majority of New York City residents who have tested positive for the coronavirus are men between the ages of 18 and 49, according to newly released public health data.
Even though experts say the elderly are the hardest hit by the virus, just 46% of the city’s COVID-19 patients are over 50 while 54% are 18-49. The remaining 2% of cases are people age 5 to 17.
The demographics, from the city’s Health Department, were determined from an analysis of 3,954 positive cases on March 19.

Odds are good they are democrats and probably engage in more risky behavior.
At least that’s an honest headline. Yesterday there was one claiming a majority of those hospitalized were in this group.
Testing positive is not the same as saying these men are in critical condition. Trying to drive the false narrative that it affects everyone in every age group the same is scare mongering.
I’d think poor hygiene has something to do with it.

My personal opinion is.. everyone probably gets the flu every year. Most just don’t know it and get over it without ever getting tested, because they are healthy and have a good immune system. I personally believe we are most likely over-reacting, but time will tell, and if I am wrong, I will admit it. I dont mind us being cautious at this point with this 2 week thing, but if we extend this.. that is a HUGE mistake and millions if not 10’s of millions will eventually die of the FINANCIAL crash that WILL eventually occur.

Mixed messaging told us the young were not impacted, therefore this age group went on ignoring pleas to self-isolate. What is the surprise.

Exactly. Anybody taking stats at face value coming out of hyper political NYC is a dupe. One FReeper reported a few days ago that in NYC any cough and fever got you presumptively diagnosed as having the Kung Flu.
There is a particular demographic in NYC which does NOT practice safe “social distancing”.
Or safe anything, for that matter.
I’d be interested to see the rate of infection among the “immune compromised” (HIV+) segment.

Agreed. And this demo is most likely to get it since they are the backbone of society; and those without pre existing conditions to have an easier time with it. But of course common sense isn’t of interest to the press.
