Kansas City and its surrounding counties will be subject to a stay-at-home order effective Tuesday morning in an effort to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, Mayor Quinton Lucas announced Saturday.
The order, which will go into effect 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, requires residents of Kansas City and Johnson, Jackson and Wyandotte counties to remain at home except for activities essential to the health and safety of themselves, family members or friends.
After 30 days, the jurisdictions will consider whether to extend the order.
Trips to essential businesses such as grocery stores, pharmacies, hardware stores, doctors offices, dry cleaners, laundromats, banks, and restaurants will be permitted.
Essential businesses will also include hospitals, and organizations that provide food, shelter and social services to the homeless and impoverished.
Kansas has reported at least 55 presumed cases of the virus since it began spreading, Missouri had confirmed 73 by the end of the day Friday.
Twelve of the Missouri cases were reported in Kansas City, five were reported in Jackson County.
Kansas has seen two coronavirus-related deaths, one in Johnson County and one in Wyandotte County. Combined, the two counties 39 presumed cases total more than cases everywhere else in the state.

I think it is part of their larger anger at the speed and depth of the Corona-virus issue.
They are upset with local governments, the media, and the entire shutdown of daily life.
I concur that the Globalists are using this 'crisis' to further a tyrannical agenda. We can debate that. But waving your arms and screaming at anyone who offers advice on practical matters won't change the basic situation of where we are.
I was accused of encouraging "gluttony" for saying a few days ago that people should stock up on medicine, supplies, and food.
More and more states are closing "nonessential" businesses. They say that grocery stores, pharmacies, and gas stations will remain open. Yes, they will.
Anyone been to the grocery store lately? They may be open, but they won't have any items. I spoke to a friend of mine yesterday who is a local grocery store manager. He said that the supply chain problems were only beginning.
He said that they are expecting shipments of some replacement items, but on some they have no idea. Moreover, some of the replacement items are inferior. He was selling toilet paper that looked like it was manufactured in the Third World, and the restriction was two rolls. Not two packages, two rolls.
He advised that if you wanted certain items, you would be smart to purchase them now.
I expect the DC metro, as well as Virginia, to be there soon. This is why government is bad and we need less of it. We are effectively being put under martial law without martial law being declared.
All of this reminds me of the War Powers act of 1973 which changed the U.S. Constitution and ceded Congress’s authority to declare war by allowing the President to go to war without actually declaring war.
Aren’t our betters in Congress and all of our governments so unbelievably smart? Yes, folks, that is called sarcasm.

I agree that people should stock up - they should have BEEN stocked up. Never mind the government trying to force people inside; what was the plan if you didn’t WANT TO venture out?
We are seeing toilet paper come back, and you can buy 6-packs, but it is garbage - small rolls with the consistency of industrial-type paper towels. Can’t imagine what it will do to plumbing; I’ve warned the family already to flush frequently.
I understand the sentiment of letting older people shop for an hour first, but with these supply problems they can pick the place clean. Younger people with children should be in the same class, if we’re going to make distinctions.
This is the only product you can buy at some stores, and it is two rolls maximum. It is made from recycled paper, and "Green Friendly."
I’m in northeastern NJ (between Newark & Jersey City); in what region are you? I think while the density of the population here is a curse during problems like this, it also ensures that deliveries are directed here more quickly. The same is true in restoring power after storms.
ITS JUST THE FLU BRO
How is this order going to be enforced? You are always headed in the direction of one of these places.
Oo! I can almost feel the splinters.
I concur with your concurrence. We can go to the grocery stores, but for what? The shelves are empty. If you are not there when the truck arrived and the employees put out what they got in, after the employees got theirs out of it, then you are SOL. We have gone back to the store a few times, got one of this, two of that, but THAT was all there was. The canned goods, soups were totally OUT.
The list of places still open is quite large. Those places need workers. Who is staying home?
I don’t see where it applies to Johnson or Wyandotte or carries a fine.
Lock all of your doors.
Close the curtains tight.
Go immediately to your panic room furnished with a fainting couch.
Don’t forget your toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
If you imagine that you hear someone cough or sneeze, call the authorities immediately.
Do NOT come out until told to do so by your competent local government officials.
Don’t you get casual Friday’s at home?
the language of the order says “urged”.
oh definitely! im going to go to my rubber lined panic room, get naked and grease up from my 50 gallon barrel of hand sanitizer and lovingly stroke my warehouse sized hoarded toilet paper stash. piss off flubro
I think most of us think it’s ridiculous that it’s gotten to this point with such a low death rate. I mean, really? SMH
This is a result of the same media and globalist tyrants who lie about climate to try to cause panic, I guess that wasn’t working anymore. Got us where they want us and a lot of FReepers right along with the scare tactics. Maybe because they’re old or like the idea all of their fanatic “end of times” nonsense is going to come true?? who knows, it’s the strangest thing going on here at FR with all the scare tatic posts and not a good kind of strange either.
I can still buy TP at Giant in my area and even flushable wipes.
Sorry to disappoint your hysteria.
