In a Tuesday piece for American Greatness, “Why the Remedy May Be Worse Than the Disease,” Prager issues a dire warning for a country reeling from a self-imposed shutdown.
In the scramble to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Americans must be vigilant against the kind of cure some may prescribe.
Prager issues a prediction: “If the government can order society to cease functioning, from restaurants and other businesses to schools, due to a possible health disaster, it is highly likely that a Democratic president and Congress will similarly declare emergency and assert authoritarian rule in order to prevent what they consider the even greater ‘existential threat’ to human life posed by global warming.”
Could America close to “protect” itself from global warming? Could shutdowns and “shelter-in-place” orders be imposed for say, higher CO2 levels, ozone alert days or farting cows?

This is actually a pretty good demonstration of what would happen if the Dems had their way on climate change.

Remember that a number of City of Detroit and Oakland County, MI precincts tallied more votes for Hillary than there were people living in the areas. That's voter loyalty---and absolute fraud. That's why the city votes are calculated half a day or longer after tiny country farm areas. They have to find out how many Chicago votes will overcome the outstate GOP majority.
And those enthusiastic dead voters who rise from the cemeteries to vote Dem all the way. Loyalty.
What a stupid article - oh yeah - I see its by that pompous slob Dennis. I was hoping he is using this time to clean his filthy house, but no he’s coming up with wonderful premises authored above.
Nope. Completely different. However, the Demagogic Party never needs an excuse or even a pretext -- just their agenda.
It’s not just having the “proper assclowns” in place, but the number of people willing to place and allow them to remain there. And that number is inclusive of a large number of “situational socialists” who before this crisis considered themselves rock-ribbed conservatives until the potential of helicopter money arose.
Actually, I doubt this premise. The left has been trying to fearmonger about climate change for years, but they are fighting against the reality that most people recognize that a changing climate is an intrinsic property of the earth.
On the other hand, a killer cold virus is an unusual event that is serious right now, but will pass as long as we take the proper measures.
We have gone through plenty of periods in the past where we’ve had to hunker down in the face of a threat, and we came through them without any lasting effects on liberty. That’s because most people recognize that a real threat must be eliminated and life will return to normal. WWII, the 1917-1919 pandemic, the polio epidemic of the 1950s, etc., are examples of threats that caused us to willingly restrict our activities.
The only real threat to freedom is creeping socialism. Anthropogenic climate change is nothing more than a tool to advance socialism.
Try it.
People are afraid of dying or losing loved ones from an un-treatable virus. That is a genuine fear.
They are not personally afraid of Climate Change. Their is no real danger from Climate Change and they people know that in their guts.

I wouldn’t be so sure. I remember when the SC ruled on against a Texas sodomy law. Scalia wrote in the dissent that the decision could lead to gay marriage. Pretty much everyone ridiculed him and said so no way, never happen.
There is a growing chance the DNC will control everything next election.
Climate change is not contagious and American citizens own more guns than there are American Citizens. We will put up this crap for a season because we are sailing through uncharted waters. A shutdown over something that might happen in 50 years? No ,we will not put up with that.
I’ve predicted that, as soon as we see all the legal precedents put in place and test operations of restricting the people in every possible way, the virus crisis will quickly and almost miraculously subside.
