I think every person who is either of Spanish or Spanish-speaking heritage needs to point out the profound difference between the Spanish flu and the China flu.
In the case of the Spanish flu, the wrong country, Spain, came to be associated as the site or cause of the flu only because the Spanish papers were the only ones reporting the truth of its existence. The flu had started elsewhere long before it got to Spain.
In the case of this present flu, the correct country of origin is being identified.
Ironic, isn’t it. Ever hear a Spaniard complain about that?
