Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker plans to issue a “shelter-in-place” order for the entire state starting Saturday, essentially commanding residents to stay in their homes as the officials take drastic measures to slow the spread of the coronavirus, sources told the Tribune.
Pritzker is expected to announce the directive at a 3 p.m. Friday news conference along with Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. Details are still being worked out, sources said.
Residents can still go to the grocery stores, put gas in their cars, take walks outside and make pharmacy runs. All local roads, including the interstate highways and tollways, will remain open to traffic, as well.

This is probably a misnomer in reporting.

Press and public officials are ignorant and stupid and weak professionally.
Shelter in place AKA quarantine AKA lockdown AKA Martial Law. It’s all the same effect, at least when voluntary, as Trump says: “enjoy your living rooms.”
I haven’t heard of roadblocks yet except for the Outer Banks of NC—anyone else?
The terms have meanings.
Shelter in place does not allow going to markets etc...
They are using the wrong term.
In shelter in place we are even reccomended to tape window and door edges.
I am almost expecting to wake up to find thousands of Chinese troops in the cities.
So everyone that lives outside Cook county and the collar counties have to shelter in place even tho there are few to no cases in their counties. I guess that makes sense, at least to him.
Same thing in CA. It's the kindergarten routine... we're punishing everyone equally! No... use your freaking brain.
Enough is enough. Any governor who does this should also announce that his own salary and the salaries of all political appointees will also be suspended for the duration of a shutdown. If the ruling class is ready to wreak havoc on the peasants, it should lead by example.

My wife has relatives living in Illinois, and several called this morning to tell us that shelter in place will be happening.
They want some advice from her. She told them how we deal with it.
One is lucking out, her bosses/owners are installing a modern office in her home to handle most of their business, which is on line. That eliminates a heavy traffic drive to from her home to and from the office. She will go into the office once a week to do stuff there. No one besides her, will be in the office at that time.
She had planned to retire, and now she will stay. She is happy, her husband is happy and so are her bosses.

Misnomer? Codswallop!
It is an intentional misrepresentation of the facts for a variety of horrible reasons.
The economy is wrecked already. Might as well make the sacrifice effective and lock down.
California’s shelter in place allows us to go grocery shopping, pickup food at a restaurant to bring home to eat.
We can still walk/run/ride bikes as long as we stay 6’away from others.
We can go for needed medical care, not routine visits.
The whole thing needs several pages to explaining the can do’s and can’t do’s.
A neighbor will try to buy a few grocery items today for us.
They texted us to see if we needed anything.
A computer wizard at our church came up with an interactive online Google Spread Sheet. Several of us have a list of people to call. My wife does this each day to see how people are, and if they need something. If they need something, she enters it into the spread sheet.
Basically every member of the church is on the list with addresses, phone#’s,emails.
The non callers/non providers can only leave a call/text message re their needs. The rest of us can help others if they ask for help.
Other people monitor the spreadsheet and will contact the person in need to see how they can be helped. Yesterday, a person needed some otc meds, and a couple of grocery items. That was handled by someone else while my wife made her phone calls or texts.

Illinois is also not shelter in place, despite it being called that.
Shelter in place means not leaving house at all and even taping windows and doors.
I don’t know why they are using this incorrect term.
Will he be calling the the old mob to enforce this with their Chicago Pianos?
