ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) All across the nation, doctors, nurses and first responders are already hard at work dealing with the growing outbreak of Covid-19. That includes one local nurse who works at an emergency room overflow unit at a major Rochester hospital.
“Literally I’m on the front lines, so it’s an interesting take,” said the nurse, who wished to remain anonymous.
She spoke to News 8 by phone. Weeks ago, she said she felt nervous about what lay ahead.
“We (didn’t) know what it looks like yet,” she said. “I’m scared, obviously. I’m scared for myself, but even more so I’m scared for my children and my husband.”
That same nurse told us her fears have since lessened, but she’s still taking a lot of precautions. She is temporarily living in a hotel in the town of Greece to protect her husband and children. Even so, she said she’s satisfied with the safety protocols in place for health care workers, and the Covid-19 patients she’s already treated.
“When you go into the room you wear a mask, a shield, or goggles, a gown or gloves,” she said.
While coronavirus is deadly, especially for the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions, she wants to remind people that most who catch COVID-19 do recover

1.) We’ll know by the middle of next week how this thing is going to go.
2.) Treatment regimens will be cheap and effective.
3.) By this time next year the economy will be roaring once again under President Donald J Trump.
True for everything with a fatality rate under 50% (ignoring the possibility of living but being crippled). Even smallpox had a fatality rate of "only" 30%.

Two questions:
1. Does she mean that most people who make it to intensive care recover? Or does she mean most people in general?
2. What does “recover” mean anyway? Does it mean recover with no permanent effects? Or does it mean recover with permanent lung damage?
I’m neither an alarmist nor a Pollyanna. But half of the “experts” tell me that hell is coming. The other half tell me that it’s no worse than the common cold.
Bottom line: I don’t know what to think. I’m just grateful that Trump is calling the shots here. If Hillary were president, I’d be in an underground bunker in some forest by now.

Close relative is a BSN nurse in a hospital in a hard hit area. The had N95s for triage nurses only. Now they are out and only have basic masks several days later. No goggles, no shields.
THAT is the problem!
Too bad the lives of the 650,000 people who die from the flu every year don't matter as much as those who die from Kung Flu.
Too bad they weren't worthy of having sick people stay the hell away from them too.
Except in China. They are already cremated.

As of this evening they are still down to masks only with 5 new cases in that unit alone. Triage nurses down to masks. It needs to move quickly.

I've been tempted to go up to our local hospital as they are treating a lot of CV patients and give them a box of 10. But I get worried if we, my kids or friends will need more, and also - will they get used once and then tossed away?
You are playing a version of russian roulette. You have no idea which version you get or how your body will respond.
So proceed accordingly.
And yes..healthy people under 40 have gotten it and had lungs that felt like they had glass in them
It is difficult, you want to help out but could find you and yours in need down the road.
