This is silly as
1. This is a crisis - it’s not a normal situation. During WWII, many things were centralized. Centralization works well enough during a crisis but is destructive during non-crisis times
2. The coronavirus outbreak has shown us that actually local governments and people’s attitudes are most important.
I don’t want this, but it may be coming. Unfortunately, the worse government screws up, the more that big government may benefit. Sigh.
True. But in many ways we have never recovered from that. In some ways, it ruined the country.

labs across the world are competing very effectively to cure the virus for cash and glory. Therefore laissez faire capitalism is the way to go for all situations forever and ever.
The era of the Democrat big city is over. There’s a reason 40% of NYC is foreign born and 66% minority. America has left the building.

10's of thousands die each year from the seasonal flu. Are we going to shut down the American economy every year during flu season now??
Pure insanity. We’re creating a downward spiral that is going to drag the world into a great depression. Clearly, something/someone wanted that.
A lot of regulations, taxes, and other government burdens suddenly disappearing doesn’t point towards “era of small government over”.

World War II does not make a case for regulation and socialism. After US entry into WW II, FDR declared that he would not press for more New Deal measures, saying that he had changed from “Dr. New Deal to Dr. Win the War.” Republicans like William Forrestal joined the administration and succeeded in lessening regulatory burdens, while they also helped to mobilize the US economy for world war. Remarkably, even with the burden of war production and having millions of troops in uniform, the US domestic economy grew during WW II, something no other major combatant accomplished.
