Dominos Pizza expects to hire about 10,000 workers nationwide in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The company is looking for delivery drivers, pizza makers, customer service representatives, managers and licensed truck drivers for its supply chain centers. The need will vary based on individual stores.
Our corporate and franchise stores want to make sure theyre not only feeding people, but also providing opportunity to those looking for work at this time, especially those in the heavily-impacted restaurant industry, CEO Ritch Allison said in a statement.
Analysts have pointed to Dominos as one of the best positioned restaurant companies because it is known for delivery. The pizza chain has introduced contactless delivery in the U.S. to respond to the epidemic. Delivery accounts for about 55% of its total orders. Dominos declined to comment on recent sales trends.
Shares of Dominos were trading up 8% on Thursday morning.

Proactive has a payoff.
Bought one yesterday. Good pizza.
The storefront wasn’t open though. I had to order from the car and the youngster brought it out.
More specifically, 5,000 drivers and 5,000 people to ride shotgun.
I freaked out coz mine was closed yesterday. It was back open within a few hours but i was worried for a bit that the independent franchisee might’ve shut it down!
Little Caesar’s (shitty cheap pizza) has smartly challenged Domino’s with free delivery this week... gotta love competition.
Peter Piper is much better, esp. on thin crust.
And there's a blizzard today, so it'll be extra fun!
Sounds like a good job for out of work public school teachers here in Los Angeles, Where I might Add 80% of the Students are ILLEGAL ALIENS or Children of Illegal Aliens.
All these chains, AINT PIZZA. (NY and a few other places make real pizza)
But I bet real pizza and crap pizza like dominos etc havent found a way to manipulate the dough properly while wearing gloves.
Gonna need more toilet paper...
I will bet the pressure to develop and deploy autonomous delivery vehicles is extremely high. Not just for pizza joints either.
“Sounds like a good job for out of work public school teachers here in Los Angeles!”
My wife who normally doesn’t comment verbally on what I read from Free Republic, just said the same thing about the teachers in our county should be lining up for the new jobs.
She also wondered if I still had my guns and ammo, earlier.
Why would teachers not get paid by the schools? It’s not like the state/local govt is going to stop collecting taxes.
Sounds like a health risk to the driver, especially collecting money.
Yep, I’ve heard these pizza debates. Some swear by NY style or Chicago style pizza, and say that Pizza Hut is eating cardboard.
LC pizza is dreadful. Free delivery makes 0 difference it’s that bad.
Marcos...yummy! My favorite pizza although I do love Lil Caesars cheesy bread.
My daughter just got laid off temporarily as a physical therapy assistant and I’m out of part time work for at least one (maybe more) weekends in my job. When whole families are out of work, it’s not going to be good...sigh
Hopefully this only lasts a few weeks...
We had Marcos where I lived in Ohio. Good stuff!
Unfortunately none anywhere around these parts.
