BREAKING UPDATE: Clinical trial by Gautret, Raoult, et al. (2020)
What is this initiative?
We're an independent group of scientists and physicians working on an open-data clinical trial for prevention of COVID-19, through the use of hydroxychloroquine in combination with other therapeutic agents.
Unlike a typical commercial drug trial, our objective is to share trial data with the public* and health-care professionals as close to real-time as possible (with a reasonable level of data quality assurance).
Given the rapidly spreading coronavirus pandemic, we're looking for every possible means to fast-track the effort.

How can I participate in the trial?
Objective: Evaluate the efficacy of hydroxychloroquine in the prevention of COVID-19 infection.
Current Phase: We're first focusing on a cohort study of healthy medical professionals.
Status: Active / Recruiting
Join the study: If you're a front-line healthcare worker (physician, nurse, etc.), and willing to participate in the trial (or already taking hydroxychloroquine), please send us an email.
Future phase: Case-control study of hydroxychloroquine in the prevention of COVID-19. Stay tuned.

I do not agree.
There is quite a lot of preliminary hopeful information, indicating this could be a readily available, already well-tested approach which is available NOW and cheaply.
There is a lot, in pharmacies, everywhere.
Right now.

It’s prospective study in the U.S.; it has worked in other countries. It’ll be prospective, and unavailable to patients, in the U.S. until big pharma has drained billions from our economy. Nice.

Something about that guy on Tucker last night just didn’t feel legit.
There is some debate, whether the different results in Italy and China, may be a result of different pain-relievers used, in the two locations.

There was a story yesterday that Bayer is donating a huge amount of Hydroxychloroquine to the CDC.
A fellow named Greg Rigano spoke of a successful study last night with Carlson.
There is an article in the Wash. Examiner about this.

Hydroxychloroquine ............... liking that word.

Suicidal thoughts is one in a long list of side effects for this drug. I would take it in a heartbeat over this virus.
There are decades of history from Americans, and others using this drug.
There is the maps (global) showing an almost perfect match between Coronavirus infections, vs. the use of this for Malaria treatment. Virtually a perfect match, except reversed...
Where there is strong use of this drug as an anti-malarial drug, there is NOT currently an outbreak of Coronavirus. Where there is not a history of using this drug, there is significant current infection. Virtually a perfect match.

1. IIRC: Chloroquine is not recommended for people of African ancestry.
2. Suppose that a chloroquine based treatment for covid-19 is developed and it is found to not be suitable for people of African ancestry. Wouldn’t some politicians accuse the pharmaceutical industry of trying to kill people of color?

The French data indicates that the addition of Azithromycin ( know as Z pack, common antibiotic for lung infection) with hydroxychloroquine showed quick results treating the virus.
I've been tootin this horn for decades. Not a see, I told’ja so kinda way, but out of true concern for my country and fellow countryman.
These multinational corporations have placed our nation in jeopardy all for the almighty $$$.
This IS a national security issue and some of these corporations should be ashamed, particularly pharma.
I love capitalism, there is no other economic model that compares, but over the last few decades, this wasn't your daddy's capitalism. This was some form of perverted globalism that said the dollar is more important than the country of my birth.
The globalism lie has been exposed...bout damn time.
Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) is used as a treatment for Lupus.
