WASHINGTON Republicans are divided on President Trumps push to send large checks to all Americans as soon as April 6 to keep the coronavirus from crushing the economy putting the universal payday in doubt.
I think it makes sense later, not now, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told reporters after a meeting of Senate Republicans on Wednesday afternoon.
GOP leaders have three groups of senators crafting a $1 trillion stimulus package that could pass as early as this weekend. But with Republicans holding just 53 seats, even a small number of defections could block the idea of direct checks.

Linda vs magic underwear. How exciting.
Layoffs are already starting
They brought it up. Now there’s no way to avoid it.
push to send large checks to all Americans

While it may be needed this reinvorces the idea that the government is a fountain of money. It won’t be the last time such payments are doled out. You can count on that.
People are going to blow through this money on non-essentials items. Bank on it.
Lindsey doesn’t want to give you a single dime. But he never blinked at $3 trillion in Endless War pork for his true constituents.
It’s straight-up, pure, old-fashioned communism.
Oh yeah! They’ll take their printed money and buy a new TV, and then GRIPE because there is no sportsball games on!
However this idea came about and whether I love it or hate it, if the GOP doesn’t let this happen November will be a problem.
The other option is giving it to our bosses and hoping it trickles down.
I don’t think so. Not this time. Lots of gig economy people are out of work and don’t have sugar daddy big corporations to pay them for time off.
You can’t stop people from working and not give them something in replacement.
Millions are going to be out of a job, so I doubt what you say is true for the vast majority.
You have more faith in people doing the right thing than I do. We live in an immediate gratification society. They indeed will waste a good deal of the bailout, then scream for more.
All my fairs have cancelled. I have lost tens of thousands of dollars. As the President says, it is not the fault of those of us that work for a living...
We had some money to get down and start our fairs. After bills, we will have around $40 a week to live on for the next three month. That means no gasoline to get to the store in town miles away. That means no other ordering of products, etc.
Now we can do it. But it would be pretty tough as some of our summer events would have gotten paid for from our spring fairs that no longer.
We could use the cash. It would provide some breathing room.
But here is the rub. We expect the remainder of the fair season to be one half of average as no one has any money...That means a spiral of declining business, trying to live through the winter to the next spring.
Its a tough one.
It started out as my money, so I don’t have a problem getting some of it back.
Hard to believe I’m with Romney here.
Oh, and it shouldn’t be for people with regular jobs or unemployment. Just the gig workers, freelancers, self-employed, etc.
all this stimulus money will either go to:
1) savings accounts
2) booze & ciggies
