Schmickie also called for President Trump to invoke the 1950 Defense Production Act ....basically a federal takeover of the economy.....which seems excessive because President Trump has industry leaders working with him.

The Act also authorizes the President to requisition property, force industry to expand production and the supply of basic resources, impose wage and price controls, settle labor disputes, control consumer and real estate credit, establish contractual priorities, and allocate raw materials towards national defense.
He just did enact the Defense Production Act

Seems obvious to me senator slimeball had a heads up so runs to the floor to make his demand before President Trump's press conference.
I wouldn't be surprised if President Trump set slimeball up to eliminate criticism from the left for invoking this Act.
