Coronavirus doctor says lung scans for young patients were ‘nothing short of terrifying’

A Belgian doctor working to battle the coronavirus says he’s treated several seriously ill young patients — and their lung scans were “nothing short of terrifying,” according to reports.

Dr. Ignace Demeyer, who works at a hospital in Aalst, said an increasing number of people between the ages of 30 and 50 have presented with severe symptoms, despite having “blank medical records” that show no underlying conditions that would make them high-risk, the Brussels Times reported.

“They just walk in, but they are terribly affected by the virus,” Demeyer told the Belgian broadcaster VRT.

He said CT scans indicated they were suffering from severe lung damage.

“The images we took yesterday are nothing short of terrifying,” the doctor told the station.

The virus is not a political plot. A portion of the reaction and measures taken because of the virus certainly have political undertones if not outright political motive.

There is a vaping hole in the story as presented.

Holy cow..what the heck data are you guys reading?

Italy is 64% ICU occupancy with cases under age 70 - average age 40-45, with cases as young as 19.

The Netherlands ICUs are over HALF filled with patients UNDER 50.

Initial data out of China was that the “serious” cases were something like 45% under 50. (I’m 100% confident on the first two points above..last point from memory and I don’t recall the exact percentage, but it’s in that range).

All available data flies 100% in the face of “this only affects the ‘old’”..here’s yet another example, for instance..

Hmm, careful examination of this story from the NYPost indicates it comes from Reuters. So, now we all believe Reuters?

Also, why have I seen this story before?

Our media, all of our media, is loving this!!! What a chance to sell papers and drive ratings.

How shameful.

Vaping doesn’t hurt your lungs unless you are vaping some sort of pot/cbd/black market crap.
************************************************************
IMHO, ANYTHING you inhale into your lungs can damage your lungs TO SOME DEGREE. Most such damages, particularly if small and NOT constantly repetitive, are quickly repaired by healthy individual. But repetitive damages, even if small per each instance, can eventually overwhelm the ability of the body to completely repair. Then the damage can gradually become permanent and more widespread.

Another thing to consider is how many will be left with a life-long debilitating condition that leaves them unable to work. And yes, severe damage to the lungs counts.

Deaths, I was talking about deaths.

Sick is something you can recover from.

Dead, not so much.

The article you link, and the one at the top of this thread, would indicate that young people can get infected, and will usually not die, but could have permanent lung damage.

If this is so, it is definitely not like the normal flu viruses.

First responders (critical members of Team Civilization) are hit first and worst, responding to CV case.

Drs, nurses, paramaedics, cops, fire fighters etc. The guys and gals you need the MOST.

Even if they are young “recovered survivors,” they may be semi-invalids due to permanent lung damage, and unable to keep up the CV war.

Like gas warfare survivors after WW1.

It’s not an opinion it is fact. I use lye and fragrances when I make soap. I take care not to inhale the vapors and my materials are kept in a separate room that I can close off. The reason why? Because repeat exposures to even small amounts can result in lung damage over time.

I’m reading plenty of reports that there is “significant and permanent” lung damage from many cases that “recovered”.

"ALL serious respiratory illnesses leave the patient with diminished lung capacity for awhile."

Thanks. Although difficulty with breathing for some people has been mentioned in conjunction with Coronavirus, you’re the first person I’m aware of that has referred to it as a serious respiratory illness.

Is that what you meant?

In fact, the former Coronavirus positive gentleman that FN Bill Hemmer has been occasionally interviewing for several days, the gentleman now testing negative and at home, hasn't mentioned respiratory problems to my knowledge. Correction welcome.
