The Office of the Secretary of State today announced that Texas will become the 30th state to join the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), a non-profit consortium of member states. ERICs mission is to assist states in increasing voter participation and improving the accuracy of America's voter rolls. ERIC is governed and managed by the member states, and was formed in 2012 with assistance from The Pew Charitable Trusts. During the 2019 session, the 86th Texas Legislature appropriated $1.5 million for Texas to join the consortium.
Participation in ERIC will assist Texas elections officials in identifying and conducting outreach to eligible but unregistered voters to encourage them to register to vote. The program will also help the State identify voters who have moved within Texas, voters who have moved out of Texas, voters who have died, and voters with duplicate registrations in Texas.
"Today's announcement that the Lone Star State will join ERIC is an important next step as we strive to identify and conduct outreach to eligible but unregistered voters," said Keith Ingram, Director of Elections. "Through this outreach, our state will continue to foster an active and engaged citizenry by encouraging all eligible Texans to play an active role in our democratic process."
"Were thrilled to welcome Texas as the newest member of ERIC," said Shane Hamlin, Executive Director of ERIC. If someone doesn’t want to vote, or, doesn’t make an effort to vote, then I am really good with them not voting. I don’t see any reason to take extraordinary steps to beg them to vote.
We’ll call this “Hackers Delight.”
Will it get the illegals and the dead off the Texas voter rolls?
Hopefully, it will alert the Texas SOS authorities as to any presence so they can then start proper efforts to take them off.
If the league of women voters is for it - then no. Its probably another clandestine attempt to get illegals ON the rolls.
A snow bird trap? Will this find New Yorkers who are registered in Florida?
Isn’t Soros the leader in leasing electronic voting machines to states and what other type on electronic machines?.
Sounds like the line they used to sell it.
It worked on enough of my fellow citizens to convince them to not shoot their representatives for yet one more over due day...
Another step towards federalizing the vote. Doesn’t smell right.
Several states have their primaries today. The old and vulnerable, who would have voted for Biden, will avoid voting to protect themselves. That leaves the young and stupid, who could give the vote to Sanders.
It would seem that TX with their two year voter registration card
system would have a good start toward cleaning up the roles where
registrants are no longer living in the county/precinct
