New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof predicted a nationwide surge in gun sales during the coronavirus outbreak will lead to more deaths across the country.
"One way in which the coronavirus will lead to more deaths," Kristof tweeted. "It is leading to a rush to buy guns, which will lead to more murders, suicides and accidents."

The media hype (NYT) that has led to the national scare that has led to the drastic measures that have killed the economy that have put people out of work.... will lead to more deaths by suicide than the virus might actually kill.

I actually do fear there will be more suicides but not due to gun purchases.
Many of us are walking a thin edge and paranoia, anxiety and depression set in.
This seems to be blithely ignored by many of those in authority and it’s terrible.
I’ve seen some semblances of mental breakdowns already.
If we have 509 less cv deaths and 500 more suicides I am not convinced we have accomplished anything but tanking everyone’s livelihood.

I don’t mind having lost my (very few) firearms in that boating accident. All those years and not a murder, not one suicide, not even an armed robbery. I had the world’s laziest guns.
