House lawmakers approved a revamped multibillion-dollar coronavirus relief package Monday that was initially passed over the early morning hours of the weekend after negotiations between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Trump administration.

Lawmakers OK'd the measure containing technical corrections via unanimous consent. The Senate is expected to take up the legislation Tuesday.

Senators will have to approve both plans to avoid sending the fixed bill back to the House.

You bet that there is some nasty stuff in that bill. Never trust Pelosi or the rat party to do the right thing.

It is not enough.

I hate deficits as much as anyone. And I dislike that Trump isn’t more fiscally prudent. But as it stands now every level of government is going to face a massive budget hole this year. Local sales taxes will be way down. Incomes and income taxes will be way down. Capital gains tax revenues will be way down. We’re staring into a multi-trillion dollar abyss local state federal combined no matter what.

The only equitable solution is to temporarily suspend all debts during this crisis. If your business is shut down, if you lost your job because your employer was shut down, if you lost income because your customers evaporated due to government shutdowns, how are you supposed to keep making your obliged debts? How can you pay rents and mortgages? How can you make payroll? How can you make your credit card and car payments?

If they ask us to sacrifice then we all must sacrifice. And if we all sacrifice then none of us sacrifice much at all. Banks are getting money at zero percent. So they can suspend mortgage and debt payments during this period. And if banks can suspend debt payments, landlords can suspend rent payments. And credit cards can suspend interest payments. And utilities can suspend their bills and so on. We freeze everything in place until we get through this crisis.

Frankly, I think they have blown everything way out of proportion. How can you close bars and restaurants but not shut down bus lines, subways, trains etc.? It makes no sense at all. They don’t know what they are doing, or, they are deliberately trying to kill off the American entrepreneur and local employees. It will be an economic disaster. And yes, there will be deficits. But they will happen no matter what given the course we are on. Millions will lose their jobs and hundreds of thousands of small businesses will go under in 60 days or less if there is no relief. And nothing in the House bill, or out of the mouths of many GOP Senators, seems to have any awareness of the market or any care about what may come from all these local actions to shut down local businesses.

landlords can suspend rent payments.

and what do landlords live on? HUH? We own and operate a small self storage system. If the government come through and tells us to suspend rent, I am going to go tell them to take a flying eff.

The problem with American people is that they live above their means and we elect grubby ass politicians that make the country do the same.

What needs to be done is what I have been raised on, tighten your belt for hard times. Meaning, stop spending what you do not have to spend.

I agree with you completely that this sham has been blown way out of proportion. The wool has been pulled over the eyes of PDJT of the deep state early on and he had no way to change course.

This is going to get rougher before it gets better. Tighten that ol belt.

Here is how I see it. The government has come in and taken away the livelihood of millions of people.

If you work in just about any job, you slip and fall and break your back - the employer has workers compensation insurance to cover the cost. The employee is out of work and needs compensation, and the employer doesn’t have to pay the out of work employee out of pocket for no work.

In this case the government has put potentially millions, or tens of millions, out of work.

I don’t presume to have every answer for every situation. If you have no debts and need rent money to live, fair enough. You deserve compensation too. But the fact is many of your tenants are going to take a bath if this quarantine lasts for any serious period of time. You aren’t going to collect rent from people with no money anyway. So what you gonna do? Evict them? Your right under normal circumstances. These are not normal circumstances. If you evict them, can you even find suitable replacements?

FWIW, my logic goes up and down the line. If you owe the bank mortgage payments they are suspended too. If you own the land free and clear and rely on the rent to eat, well yes you deserve compensation just like your tenants.

Normally I would say let the market figure this out. But the government has massively intruded on the market. They have literally shut down 100,000’s of businesses. What are these businesses and employees supposed to do?

You make very good points.

The FERAL Government has outlived its usefulness, IMO. If it can be manipulated by big business and the ups and downs of the interest rate (due to debt), then it has failed what it was intended to be, a republican form of government.

Its largess has created the problems seen in this country, from urban blight to big money hand outs to big business farms. It is all about this government intruding upon the rights granted us as a republican form of government to a democracy where mob law rules.

It is time to disband this big business bureaucracy and return to a free society.

Thanks go to Louie Gomart!! He was the only Congress critter with the intestinal fortitude to stand up to corrupt Pelosi her dRats. Pelosi asked for “Unanimous Consent” to pass her Democrat pork laden bill. Louie was the only one to stand up and be counted. Only because of Louie, was more of the bad stuff removed.

Thank You Louie
