LOUISVILLE, Ky., (WDRB) -- Thunder Over Louisville, one of the most famous and largest firework and airshows in the nation, will be delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Reliable sources tell WDRB that the event will be pushed to Aug. 15.
Thunder is the kick-off event to the Kentucky Derby Festival and was scheduled for April 18 at the Waterfront Park in downtown Louisville. It typically draws more than 700,000 attendees from across the country.
Sources also had told WDRB News Monday that the 146th running of The Kentucky Derby would be postponed until Sept. 5.
Officials have been hinting that the events could be cancelled or delayed as more and more people are confirmed to have contracted COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus.
Government and health officials have encouraged people to avoid gatherings and remain six feet away from other people, an impossibility at events such as Thunder, where people stands elbow to elbow for hours.

Looking on the bright side, if an event of this magnitude is able to be held on August 15, not only would the pandemic be over, but we should be well on the rebound economically well before the election.

Ridiculous? The media reported on national television that Little Mike spent enough money on his failed campaign to give every American $1,000,000.00.
Dementia Joe said on national television that guns kill 150,000,000 Americans a year.
AND, TODAY, the Crazy Bernie campaign stated that 500,000,000 Americans a year declare bankruptcy.
That was my first thought when I read the headline. Sounds like the Demorats came up with a way to stop the infamous "Storm Machine" that Dubya used on New Orleans back in the day.
This news is a HUGE disappointment.
The fact that they have delayed to Sept, with NO announcements from the Preakness or Belmont about corresponding delays means...they have NOT reached an agreement to keep the Triple Crown order in place. That will ruin the entire experience.
A HUGE part of the magic of the Kentucky Derby is... it’s the FIRST mile and a quarter race for these 3 year olds. It will not be the same as the LAST race in the triad.
I was really hoping they would ALL delay by one month. I guess that couldn’t agree.
I remember that. As ludicrous as that was, more ridiculous was the number of American democrats that believed it and would actually argue with you about it.
I don’t know who said this first but, someone once stated that Liberalism is a Mental Disorder. There is no other rational explanation.
I also remember many years ago watching on youtube and old B/W film clip of a movie where a scientist describes the behavior of Zombies and Bob Hope deadpans, Oh you mean Democrats!
As superficially amusing as all this is, it is actually very serious. Those people are stone-cold believers and their firm beliefs are a danger to our country and our children’s future in our country.
