Amazon is hiring an additional 100,000 employees in the U.S. to meet the surge in demand of online shopping amid the coronavirus outbreak, the company said Monday.

The company is looking to add extra warehouse and delivery workers. It will raise pay for these employees by $2 per hour in the U.S., £2 per hour in the UK, and approximately €2 per hour in many EU countries. Amazon currently pays $15 per hour or more in some areas of the U.S.

They can’t ship stuff that is not in stock. Agreed. But they will move heaven and earth to get that to occur.

Them, Walmart and Chewy (although Chewy has to be orders of magnitude smaller) are going to have their supply chain management, etc - put to the test.

The Chinese stuff might not be in stock, which is a plus, but I bet the American stuff...including our Mexican and Canadian trade partners in the new Trump plan - will be able to do it.

The other largest chain is metering products. The problem is not caused by “hoarders.” Regulated ordering is behind it, and it’s done very centrally and not from each store location.

The only thing missing from stores near me is toilet paper - ridiculously bought up by hysterics. Today, my local Publix had restocked beef, pork and poultry. There’s plenty of staples like canned goods, etc. and the fresh fruit and vegetables looked the same as usual. I just don’t understand any of this!

I went to the local Home Depot.
Went to the Customer Services desk and asked if I could order TP.
YES!
And it will be in stock for pick up on Wednesday.
Limit 36 rolls.
Wipe Away!
