Researchers on Monday administered the first shot in a trial for a potential vaccine for the novel coronavirus, federal officials said.
The trial is taking place at Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute in Seattle, and aims to enroll 45 healthy adults over a six-week period, according to the National Institutes of Health.
Study participants will receive two doses of the vaccine approximately 28 days apart.
The study is a Phase 1 trial, and is meant to evaluate different doses of an experimental vaccine, and is the first of multiple steps in the clinical trial process for evaluating its potential benefit.
The vaccine was developed by the NIH and their collaborators at Moderna, Inc., based in Cambridge, Mass. It took only about two months for Moderna to develop the vaccine and ship it to NIH.
But while the trial launched in a record period, public health officials have been stressing for weeks that a vaccine won't be ready for 12 to 18 months, in the best circumstances.

From the article link I just posted:
“Even if the research goes well, a vaccine wouldnt be available for widespread use for 12 to 18 months, said Dr. Anthony Fauci of the U.S. National Institutes of Health.”
I would bet that should initial trials (effective, not harmful and not increasing virus strength or viability) be successful, the vaccines will be in use a lot faster than 12 to 18 months. We will be lined up in October for our flu and Wuhan Virus shots.

Warning. Vaccines are not the miracles theyre purported to be
not by a long stretch
Many many people who get flu shots still get flu
I would focus much more on virucide and bactericide using means to keep them from getting a population in your body
colloidal silver is the very best one of these
there are many other good things to keep your immune system up
vitamin C is another
Zinc is another

And avoid as much sugar as possible. Viruses live on sugar.

“Many many people who get flu shots still get flu”
The flu vaccine is the best guess of which viruses will be most active for the upcoming season. I’ve read that the current flu vaccine is about 48% effective. That is why you can still get the flu. A vaccine would be specific for the Wuhan Virus so hopefully be very effective in stopping the spread.

I’ve had the flu shot for 32 straight years and have not had the flu, although I had it several times as a kid. My wife has not had a flu shot in the same amount of time but she has not had the flu either. We are waiting to see who blinks first.

Same here. I think the last time I got the flu was 21 years ago. That was the worst flu I ever had. I had gotten the flu shot that year. I guess I caught a different virus than what was in the vaccine.

They're late!
Experimental coronavirus drug brings woman back from brink of death
Using an experimental drug, scientists in the US have managed to save a victim they feared was going to pass away.
The patient is a woman was confirmed as the first case of community transmission in the US.
She tested positive for COVID-19 on February 26.
The patient had had not travelled to an infected area or been in known contact with a confirmed case, according to scientists from the University of California Davis Medical Center.
The womans condition deteriorated significantly, and she became critical.
She was then given special permission to become a test subject for the drug named Remdesivir.
The drug had previously only been tested on monkeys in the US , infected with MERS - a variation of coronavirus.
Speaking to ScienceInsider, George Thompson, an infectious disease specialist who treated the woman said she is now doing well, despite fears the virus was about to kill her.
Just 36 hours after diagnosis and after her condition took a serious turn, the patient was given the drug intravenously.
We thought she was going to pass away, Thompson said of the patient.
The day after the infusion of the drug, she consistently got better.
Despite the success, more tests will be needed as the scientists were unable to test her blood for something called polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Army beat you to it.
Army signs agreement with drug giant Gilead on experimental COVID-19 treatment (The drug that cured the patient!)
U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command has signed an arrangement with Gilead Sciences to provide the companys investigational coronavirus drug to U.S. troops confirmed to have the COVID-19 virus.
Gileads medication, remdesivir, was approved for clinical research in February by the Food and Drug Administration. The medication, which initially was developed by the Foster City, California-based company to treat Ebola, has had some demonstrated success targeting coronaviruses, including Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS, and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, SARS.
The medicine, given intravenously, is currently being tested for safety and effectiveness in two separate clinical trials in China and one by the National Institute of Allergy and Infection Diseases.
In the U.S. study, the first volunteer was an evacuee from the Diamond Princess cruise ship hospitalized with the illness at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
