If they shut down interstate travel, then I’ll just travel between states by going to Mexico first ... because they’ll never stop me from crossing that border. :-P
I doubt it would be every state, probably just the heavily infected ones like Ca, WA NY. etc.
They’ve already called in the national guard to enforce travel bans in NY.
Looks like it could happen within 2 weeks.
By the time we get the official announcement it has already gone through. It is just a formality.
I remember hearing about the National Emergency would happen last January about Coronavirus, and then 2 weeks ago it was already happening quietly. Then sure enough on Friday we got the announcement.
The only thing that is stopping it is if it passes the Constitution.
So people won’t be able to travel home if they’re in another state or travel to a new job? Ridiculous!!

Italy’s coronavirus toll surges as worries grow over hospitals

MILAN (Reuters) - Italy recorded 368 more deaths from the coronavirus outbreak on Sunday, its biggest one day rise, amid growing concern about the ability of its strained health system to cope with the relentless increase in new cases.
While the virus has begun spreading rapidly across Europe, Italy remains the second most heavily affected country in the world after China, where the illness first emerged, and the outbreak has shown no signs of slowing.
The government is working urgently on procuring more protective equipment, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said, adding there was maximum attention on helping Lombardy, the northern region where the virus emerged just over three weeks ago.
“Our priority is to keep doctors, nurses and all our health personnel safe,” Conte said in a statement a week after his government imposed a virtual lockdown across the country in a bid to contain the spread of the virus.
With 24,747 cases and 1,809 deaths by Sunday - a rise of 368 or 25% in the death toll in just 24 hours - Italy’s experience has offered an alarming example for other European countries which have begun seeing sharp rises in cases over recent days.
Lombardy, the heavily populated area around the financial capital Milan, has been the worst-affected region with 1,218 deaths. Of those, 252 were recorded in the last 24 hours.
I wonder how the response would have differed if corona virus would have went pandemic in 1950 instead of 2020. Or whenever it would have been that they couldn’t tell the influenza virus from this thing. Would it have been considered just another really bad late flu year or would have been worse than the 1918 flu?

Why are people being such buttheads? Sometimes you do things you don’t like to solve a problem.
Taiwan put ankle bracelets monitors on people in quarantine to keep them there. Look at the jerk in St Louis who went to a dance with his daughter and infected more people. Same with the jerk in Kentucky. When people act stupid or like spoiled children not thinking of others someone has to play the adult.
We are after the end result of saving lives and putting the country back together. That will take a tough leader and we have one.

We are going to need to accept drastic action if we are to have any hope of not becoming Italy on a much larger scale. In terms of a threat to human life this is the most serious crisis this country has faced since World War II.
If you are worried about contracting an infectious disease, doesn’t it behoove YOU to conduct yourself in a way that minimizes your chances of contracting it — regardless of what anyone else may or may not do?
Isn’t this why the Amish probably don’t even know what the hell COVID-19 is in the first place?
