I am told the virus spreads quickly.

Had a Chinese immigrant (now citizen) friend/co-worker years ago. We often went to lunch in Chinatown, NYC and I would just let him order since I would be the only round eye in the place. Never got the hang of chop sticks so I would bring my own utensils. One day I decided to take him to lunch in Little Italy, veal parmigiana and spaghetti. US hospitals have not experienced increase demand *because* of the anticipatory quarantine efforts imposed in order to flatten the curve ie they are actually working. Faulting success as proof of an assertion is an interesting way of viewing the world and factual data.
I'm sort of curious why you're taking such an obtuse position. Your peers, both professionally and in disposition, seem to operating fairly consistently with cautious guidance. By acting like a JFB, you're doing yourself a disservice no different than ZPA loons salivating in orgiastic delight over the prospect of total system collapse.
The truth, as always, is somewhere in the middle. Like watching flood levels rising while feverishly building in sandbags, the US peak should crest somewhere at a stress point, but not exceed system capacity. Perhaps more importantly, we'll have the experience and political advantage to put systems and procedures in place to hopefully avoid this kind of situation in the future.
