Surgeon General Jerome Adams stressed the importance of social distancing in the battle against the spread of COVID-19 in the United States.
At the White House Coronavirus Task Force briefing at the White House on Saturday, Adams explained how the tactic could help prevent the most at-risk groups, older people and those with underlying conditions, from catching the disease.
Social distancing and mitigation they're not to protect the 30 year old or the 20 year old from getting coronavirus. They're to protect your nana. They're to protect your granddaddy. They're to protect the people you love in your lives and we need your help, he said.

Well, there is always the speed of the Trust Fund funding to consider...
Now this makes sense.
The only ones that need to worry are the elderly and those with underlying respiratory issues.
The rest of us will be fine.
My youngest son is in his last semester at his university. He’s very social and he also drives for Uber and Lyft.
We moved my elderly aunt into our home, she’s 82 and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s late last year. She never married (world traveling most of her life) and has no children so, as her eldest nephew I and my wife stepped up and took her into our home.
I told my son to knock off the Uber and Lyft thing as we are very concerned with whom he may be exposing himself to thus, exposing her to.
Go off and quickly achieve the Herd Immunity.
So what will he do for money?
We are making up for his lost income ourselves until this outbreak runs its course. Which it will do. They all do.
are you paying him to quit his job?.....people have to make money....
nevermind.....
Yes. We are giving him the average weekly income he lost by our request until the outbreak dies off which it will do. My wife wanted me to do this anyway when the height of the flu season began. The common flu kills the elderly at an alarming rate as well.
The there are other underlying conditions in addition to the pulmonary. Diabetes, for example. That one includes a large number of Americans.
There’s evidence from China that there’s no immunity from contracting the virus.
The state of Florida pretty much locked down the assisted living and nursing homes, according to my folks (assisted living). No visitors and no outside trips except to the doctor.
Yeah, right.
The elderly are already grotesque ignored and lonely in our society. Don’t need to be giving ‘loved ‘ones more reasons to stay away.
“The elderly are already grotesque ignored and lonely in our society. Dont need to be giving loved ones more reasons to stay away.”
That’s a really good point. This ban on visiting nursing homes can’t be allowed to stay in place for too long.
“Diabetes, for example.”
It can worsen symptoms of chronic health conditions, such as lung or heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Multiple studies have shown an increased risk of heart attack and stroke in the first few days following the flu.
Viral infections like the flu also put added stress on your body, which can affect your blood pressure, therefore heart rate, and overall heart function.
One of the biggest dangers is a weakened immune system. And not just with HIV. Many people take drugs that slows that in an effort to cure certain skin conditions like atopic dermatitus. I use a new drug on the market called dupixent. You might have seen the commercials for it on TV. It trims the capacity of the immune system which makes one less contributory to combating illness.
According to the MAYO, neurological or neurodevelopmental disease, an airway abnormality, and kidney, liver or blood disease, may increase your risk of influenza complications.

I guess you almost have to be a marathoner to be free and clear. We need to send China a couple of poison pen letters for their contribution in this.

I’ve seen those “posts” and it is a concern - open question.
One that should be answered.
I’m not in that epidemiological bidness. I have no way to independently test that hypothesis out.
And how does he feel about your trying to run his life?
