I do enjoy CNN and its expert Dr Gupta,
but, with the greatest respect, I do wonder.....

In China, the epidemic is over. They’ve had a total of 83,000 cases. Most of them cleared up. In recent days, they’ve been under 20 new cases a day, down 99% in a month.

In South Korea, the epidemic is over. They’ve had less than 10,000 total. Eight days ago, the new cases peaked at 800 a day, Now new cases are down 85%, to 110 per day.

So why do CNN and Dr Gupta think the US will hit 10 times China and 100 times Korea? Can they really be that dense?

Maybe they’re like their competitor Brian Williams, and that girl editor from the New York times. They never too a course in basic arithmetic.

I started using CPAP six months ago, and I love it. Helps a lot, lot, lot. In fact it cured my headaches and it clears out my nasal cavities. I can see how it would help person who is having problem breathing.

If your medical condition warrants a ventilator, a CPAP ain’t gonna help you.

Get a Rockpals portable power station.

The 300 is about $150.00 and it will run your machine if the power goes off.

What does a cpap do and how do they work/operate?

Do they blow air out, into your nose or mouth?

TIA.

A fireplace bellows, some duct tape and someone to pump it would work, right?

A discounted ventilator is a man or woman squeezing a bag. I’m old school. If my family member needs a ventilator and one wasn’t available I would be the bag squeezer until I ran out of strength. And yes I have that equipment.

Listen people there are at least 120-to-150k vent's out there that can be used...

But that said this is all CNN BS again..

Many rental companies have vents..that are rented to Hospitals...and rented to companies that supply vents to people at home or in stepdown Units, LTAC's, Swing bed units..

There are vents that are very small that do a fine job...

Like a 2 ft by 2 ft box....and others that are about 2 inches high...and maybe one foot wide and 2 foot long.

I know what I'm talking about....been in the biz for a long time.

This country has over 130k vents...and this guy is using old data...just like a FReeper here did...siting data 13 yrs old...

But CPAP machines, already in wide use for people who snore, might be used as a temporary stopgap for those whose ventilator needs are not as severe and as complicated, suggests professor John Banzhaf, an MIT-educated engineer and inventor with several patents.

I bet Banzhaf has no idea how a CPAP machine works..let alone a BIPAP.

IMO opinion CPAP machines won't help. Most home models will not go over 15 cmh2o..and are mainly if NOT all the time for OSA..."Obstructive Sleep Apnea"

Old story...

Long time ago....I worked in a NICU..had a premie baby that had two chest tubes..and was not going to make it.

The kid wouldn't tolerate the ventilator...but would tolerate me hand bagging the kid. I don't know why...but that was the deal. I bagged that little baby until all the family got there.....And kid died in the mother's arms...

Will never forget that.....

You should buy an inverter and a deep cell marine battery along with a battery charger so if this happen again you can sleep even if you have to take the battery someplace else to be charged for the next night.

There are expensive battery backup systems but this is a cheaper but good way. The only downside is charging the battery because it’s heavy like a car battery.

Most CPAP units are 12 volt. A wild estimate is 15000 mAh for 8 hours of use. Obviously it depends on the settings, model, etc. A quick check on Amazon shows a 38000 mAh unit for $90. Battery
They even show a setup with the Dreamstation.

Roughly $1500, IIRC.

It will surprise NO ONE at FR that through Medicare and "insurance" that CPAP machines have been a bloated cash cow.

Every once in awhile a dealer will have too many and "dump" them on Amazon. I got a brand new $1000 Philips Dreamstation for $299.

The rest is your government "markup".
