Even the hysteria that has befallen us on our usually very sane sight.

Yes, we all should pay attention and be a bit more diligent than usual and yes, if you feel ill, maybe good to stay to yourself for a few days.

I do remember as a young kid measles among others were still being quarantined, nobody in or out until it passed.
TB patients were put in sanitariums.
Not sure about the Polio, believe there was some restrictions about contact.

We went from the above to people with AIDS being ‘allowed’ to work in kitchens serving the public.

This present day panic is tantamount to the ‘panic’ that was in place during the ‘DC Sniper reign of terror’.

Am not saying there wasn’t a random danger as they were very mobile but the LEO reaction was somewhat on a ‘keystone kop’ level with all the ‘People smarter than all’ had the ‘snipers as sophisticated terrorists, WHITE, driving a WHITE Van, truck, tractortrailer, car etc etc etc...interesting choice as most ‘newer’ vehicles were white.

Got to the point where they would stop traffic on major highways and search everything, tying things up for hours.

I realize they had to do something but getting hysterical should not be on of the alternates

Oh, BTW, those WHITE guys in a WHITE truck turned out to be 2 Black guys in an old chevy with a ‘gun mount’ in the trunk.

OOOOPS...

Having lived through (to name a few) the 1970s ice age, the later ‘ice bergs melting and flood the world’, polio, Asian flu, Mad Cow, etc and that was before the ‘turn of the century’...
Since Y2K (WHICH WAS GOING TO KILL US ALL AND PLANES WERE GOING TO FALL OUT OF THE SKY)
we have been ‘threatened’ with
Anthrax, West Nile Virus, SARS, Bird Flu, Ecoli, Swine Flu,Ebola, Zika and now - after all the doom and gloom failed to wipe us out, we all of a sudden ‘panice’ over Corona - which, basically from the same strain that has been tormenting us with flu over all these years.

Not harping etc, but other than what the USN may have given me in the 50s/60s, I have NEVER taken the flu shot, never gotten ‘shut down’ sick and if I listen to all, I may as well lock my 80 year old arse in the bathroom with my horde of toilet paper.

‘Riot’ because of no toilet paper?
‘Riot’ because of no hand sanitizer?

‘Forcing’ Vodka companies to say their product isn’t strong enough to ‘replace’ hand sanitizer.

Wear gloves...don’t you realize that if you wear glove (to protect you and OTHERS) that once you touch something the rubber glove you are wearing has to be destroyed, lest you pass on whatever you picked up etc etc etc

Sorry, but the IMPOSED PANIC is what is REALLY making me sick.

And yes, I heard an ‘interview’ with a psycologist saying that his patients were in ‘mortal fear’ because of all the ‘fear mongering’.

Sounds as sensible as allowing someone to collect SSDI because they are stressed out from being stressed out.
