Canada ratifies USMCA trade deal, replacing NAFTA....(win)

The Canadian Parliament on Friday ratified the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement on trade, making Canada the third and final country needed to make the trade pact official and replace the 1993 North American Free Trade Agreement.

The USMCA had faced opposition in the Canadian Parliament and became stuck in a committee for several weeks. That delayed the adoption of the deal for two months after the United States ratified it and even held a signing ceremony. Mexico approved the deal last year.

"Now that the USMCA has been approved by all three countries, a historic new chapter for North American trade has begun," said U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.

I wonder what it was that moved the Canadians and their Pajama Boi PM to finally sign the agreement.
Did we promise that after Andrew Gillum’s male prostitute recovers from his Chrystal Meth overdose in Miami we would send him to visit the Canadian Parlament and their Pajama Boi PM? Just asking the question.

The opposition to the agreement was coming from parties that are also in opposition in parliament, not from PJ’s crowd who supported the deal since they had negotiated it (if following Trump’s lead can be called negotiation). I don’t think this opposition was over more than a few details anyway. We are in no position to call the shots on something like this. Hoping that Trump continues in office as the Dems would probably rip this up and go for something worse.

I have no problem at all with a trade deal between the US and Canada. But why should we have any such deal with Mexico...which is an enemy of the United States in every way except militarily?

NAFTA was already in place, we had no choice but to try to improve on it.

Mexico covers over a thousand miles of our border, to think that there would not be trade is not realistic.

A lot has been under-reported since the virus has stolen the minds of every news station and outlet.

....”why should we have any such deal with Mexico”....

Because Us, Canada and Mexico are one trading block.

You know the US faired well in this or Trump wouldn’t have sealed the deal. He’s all about ‘fair’ trade.

And what is it that Mexico has that we need? Besides avocados that is.

And what is it that we have that Mexico can afford to pay for?

Guess you’ll just have to read up on that and discover that for yourself.

We don't need their oil...we don't need the cars made there (Nissan for example)...we don't need the refrigerators or TVs that are made there. And Americans can vacation in Hawaii,Florida or the Caribbean.

So by my reckoning that leaves avocados.
