The House voted just before 1 a.m. Saturday to pass an emergency coronavirus response bill to increase testing and aid people kept from work, a measure meant for quick signing by President Trump next week as the government tries to arrest the pandemic.
The final vote was 363 to 40, with one member voting "present."
"Our bill which is basically intact what we are passing," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, referring to the Democrats' original coronavirus package released on Wednesday.
"And there's some things that they wanted that we have to put off until the next time because it just came in late, you know," said Pelosi, referring to Republican requests to change the bill
The legislation, which is expected to be approved by the GOP Senate when it returns next week, came after intense talks between Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, which continued through the evening Friday.
The legislation will provide for free coronavirus testing, guarantee workers two weeks of paid sick leave, up to three months of paid leave, increase unemployment benefits, lunches for children who would normally eat at school, and increase Medicaid funding.

I would like for the President to tackle all "Status of Forces Agreements" around to world to get them renegotiated. As far as I ever saw they were all obscene welfare for the foreign nationals around the bases and posts.
Tucker Said tonight something like the following “The Corona virus isn’t killing babies, so the democrats tried to sneak in legislation into the bill to correct that”
at what point in the number of confirmed infections... will the congress as a whole decide it is time to let us keep some money to weather the storm with?
We should start a pool... what DATE will congress cave? The date that we hit 50 thousand, or 500 thousand.
Cave, they will.
“that double standard I couldnt buy, so my perspective has dramatically changed”
Agree. It’s sad when elderly Americans who cannot afford the $3500/month assisted-living places are put on an 18-month waiting list for low-income housing because the housing is so limited.
Instead of trying to turn Iraq and Afghanistan into “Western” culture (against their wills), why not use those funds to build more low-income housing for the elderly in the United States? Many of those people worked years but cannot afford those expensive assisted-living places. And they either have no family, or their families don’t want to help. It’s a major problem in this country.
How can Nancy Pelosi actually think it was a good idea to tag abortion funding to a Bill that’s specifically geared toward saving lives? Nobody with half a brain would do that. The woman is evil personified.
I say VETO!! This money bill!
Those things did not happen, so no one cares and everyone has just moved on.
Yes, that was a great line.
well put
Curious about what those of us that are unemployed are to do now that no one is hiring. Benefits ran out (not my fault... got cancer)
It’s possible they may decide to extend the benefits at some point if things get worse. Seems like the government has done that before? Or maybe it was only discussed, can’t remember.
We know that wasn't AOC. She's not all there.
We all have that T-shirt. It says "I survived the 0bama Era!"
12 weeks of PAID FMLA leave? Holy Crap, that is going to be expensive. Plus, you can take it if your child’s school is closed? Somebody get the smelling salts out for the HR and operations manager.
They are using the employer’s payroll tax to fund this so it will probably work.
And they passed it with the full, public endorsement of POTUS.
Trump endorsed this bill publicly.
Yup. Moral of the story, the House is almost as important as the WH. The Stupid Party let the Rats steal it, a Less Stupid Party can take it back.
.... pretty true.
