King County will be shifting how it uses its coronavirus isolation sites, after a patient at its Kent quarantine site left against the advice of on-site security.
A homeless patient checked into what used to be an EconoLodge motel in Kent on Thursday, that was recently purchased by King County to use as a quarantine site. The patient entered the facility as a voluntary response to an offer for services while he awaited coronavirus test results.
Shortly after, he reportedly disregarded the instructions of an onsite guard and left the motel. He then entered a convenience store, where he allegedly shoplifted items, before getting on a northbound Route 153 King County Metro bus.
Metro reports that the bus has been immediately taken out of service for cleaning and sanitization.
My fears for this facility have come true, said Kent Mayor Dana Ralph, who had originally opposed the isolation sites presence in the city.
Because of this incident, King Countys isolation sites will only be used to house those who not need supportive social services or additional supports. It will also look to identify and staff separate sites for those with behavioral health needs in the days ahead.
These new standards will also apply to a coronavirus quarantine site currently operating in White Center.

They expect to keep the homeless in these motels when the bottle beckons? They’ll jump out the window or do what ever has to be done for a rendezvous with John Barleycorn.
Such would have to be locked up and the legality of that is dubious.
There’s no way to contain this virus 100%. It’ll run its course and then be pretty much gone by November 4th.
Prisoners of the state under threat of being shot! Where is my country? Where are the patriots to water the tree of liberty?
And people here cheer it on! Amazing.
Note to self: increase ammunition stockpiles.
Yes. Those of us with intelligence know this is all over on November 4th.
Add to them the "let's enact martial law" knuckleheads. I've seen more of those comments the last 2-3 days.
Be a lot cheaper to just supply them with booze.
I’d suggest institutionalizing the Wash. Governator and most of the legislators.
Amazing isnt it? FearRepublic has gone all in for an authoritarian police state. Screw individual liberty. Can we just remove the word free from this site and port everything to a new domain. I checked...fearrepublic.com is available.
The rumor going around right now is that Inslee is mobilizing the WA Nat Guard, and the borders of WA are going to be closed, with no body allowed in or out of the state. Supposedly Nat Guard members have been told to report.
Kent is a violent shithole, full of illegals.
Very corrupt King county bought this crappy motel with emergency funds w/o consulting the city...plus no one knows who originally owned this motel and cashed in.
Almost feels like this all a trial run to gauge just how docile and weak the citizens have become. I think the results are far ahead of what they ever thought possible.
It’s just some people. The vast majority of FReepers are totally against the crazy calls for martial law.
The 153 route terminates in Renton, which puts the passenger on the 5/405 loop; in short, it’s the Seattle metropolitan area and he could be anywhere within it within about an hour. He’s gone.
I hope he was negative or Seattle is going to run out of nuts and junkies real quick like.
Quarantines apparently have been normal practice in this land for almost 400 years.

A homeless patient ...
Yes. We will soon see the true virulence in the wild without Pres. Trumps interventions.
you legally can not force anyone to stay in isolation nor can you make all their visitors to wear isolation gear, even while they use public facilities and the water fountain.
