Those numbers are hours old. These numbers are at least minutes old.

I thought it was 99% elderly that get it. So I guess reality is poor elderly will die while rich ones live.

Dems are rejoicing.

but i think in battle they always treat the sickest first right?

Nope. They treat those who they think can survive.
If you are so wounded death is likely, you get marked “expectant”, and maybe get some morphine if available.

In the military, it’s called “Triage”.

I think that’s Italian for,

“We’re gonna be working on the General so here’s a couple of aspirins.”

Out with the old, in with the new. Communism at its apex. Humanity is a chattel to be treated like any other piece of worn out personal property. Throw it in the trash bin and get on with the eternal quest to achieve nirvana.

Again, I’m not clear that this virus is really different from the symptoms and duration of a tough flu.

Thus, do young fit people really need medical assistance?

...but i think in battle they always treat the sickest first right?..

Not really. If a patient is expected to die they receive minimal, or no treatment.

Then there is a balancing between chances of success and amount of treatment necessary. If you could survive but would take a lot of care, they may have to ration that care to those who will each take less, but in aggregate will take up all of the care available.

It sucks to be old.

And what about all the patients seeking help over something NOT the COVID?

They are not treated. There are not enough doctors or resources for anything else. That is what people don't seem to get. It isn't just CV19, it is all the other stuff. Get pneumonia? Well there aren't any respirators for you. Having a baby? Good luck. The OBGYN is trying to safe an intabated man. Car accident? Sorry, no ambulances to get you. The medical system is crashing. No one is picking up the dead yet. This is why the US is clamping down so hard. We have to flatten the curve, or a whole lot of people are going to die. Unfortunately, that means some very hard choices will be made soon.

But that is my whole point. Why is it that COVID gets A#1 priority? Besides being “new”?

I’m not seeing the dire consequences overall, so why should they be prioritized over other true emergencies of immediate danger?

When there the ICU is filled with CV19 patients, people are dying at home with it, and your entire staff is working on keeping a few of the cases alive while fighting the virus themselves, no one has resources for anything else.

Kind of like when there is a pile up on the interstate. the local ERs stop accepting anyone until the causalities are cleared.

What would you suggest? Keep some doctors in isolation to take care of broken bones while CV19 patients crash?

"... but inspired by the most consensual criteria regarding distributive justice and the appropriate allocation of limited health resources"

What an elegant way of putting it.

I guess it was too hard to say DEATH PANELS.
