Engineered bat virus stirs debate over risky research (2015 Nature Journal)
Nature Journal of Science ^ | May 2019 | Declan Butler

An experiment that created a hybrid version of a bat coronavirus — one related to the virus that causes SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) — has triggered renewed debate over whether engineering lab variants of viruses with possible pandemic potential is worth the risks.

In an article published in Nature Medicine on 9 November, scientists investigated a virus called SHC014, which is found in horseshoe bats in China. The researchers created a chimaeric virus, made up of a surface protein of SHC014 and the backbone of a SARS virus that had been adapted to grow in mice and to mimic human disease. The chimaera infected human airway cells — proving that the surface protein of SHC014 has the necessary structure to bind to a key receptor on the cells and to infect them. It also caused disease in mice, but did not kill them.

Again, quoting the late Dr. Robert Mendelsohn,

Because nobody READS medical journals!

I still think the Chinese are hiding the fact a biological warfare agent go out by accident or a research virus used to study how coronaviruses work also go out by accident.

Scientists, who have replaced God in our current Humanist world, are smart enough to destroy society, but they can’t put it back together. The evidence is irrefutable.

‘Scientific types’ are some of the most arrogant and self satisfied SOB’s on earth. Believe me... I work with them. Or just watch Nat Geo.. which is THEIR church and their god.

They couldn’t find their own a&^ with a map, but they do ‘research’...sheeesh!!

Many have long thought that bioweapons research was insane, a catastrophe waiting to happen. Quite a few franchises based on this premise... Resident Evil, for example.

‘Scientists, who have replaced God in our current Humanist world, are smart enough to destroy society’

is it not God who formulated the virulent agents in the first place...?

I have worked in China and with a lot of technical people there.

They have a huge talent pool, extremely smart scientists, and often, a lot of money and resources to play with.

Its also communist cowboy culture of scientific research. Like a typical communist society, there’s a lot of hierarchal politics and back-stabbing, and those who have climbed the greasy pole to the top collect their cronies around them, think they are gods, want to be recognized for their greatness and they all want to get RICH. All of this affects things like safety management.

Of course I have no proof, but from my experiences, I am convinced the source of Covid-19 is exactly some such individuals were playing around with their “toys” and some of these creations escaped the lab.

Not anymore. I really do worry that SARS-CoV-2 was designed so when it mutates, the mutated variant actually becomes MORE deadly. Yikes. 😱🤒😷

Some of the 2015 article authors:

Key Laboratory of Special Pathogens and Biosafety, Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan, China
Xing-Yi Ge & Zhengli-Li Shi

Department of Cell Biology and Physiology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
Scott H Randell

Francis Boyle is likely correct.

In Genesis, God declared everything He made as being “Good.” After man introduced sin to the world, all of man and nature carried the seeds of death, because “the wages of sin is death.”

Creation of a chimaera

"[L]ab research that increases the virulence, ease of spread or host range of dangerous pathogens — what is known as ‘gain-of-function’ research. In October 2014, the US government imposed a moratorium on federal funding of such research on the viruses that cause SARS, influenza and MERS"

And I mean, if we think about it logically, if God told man not to eat from a specific tree or they would ‘surely die’, is it not plausible that He was trying to protect them from some harmful virulent agent present in the fruit?
