Was watching one of the BBC’s “Planet Earth” DVDs the other day titled “Saving Species”. Full of talking heads saying there are too many people on the planet, endangering wildlife, habitats, ecosystems, what-have-you.
One recommended global population should be under 1 billion.

if you were to take a bird’s eye view of a typical suburban sprawl in a typical affluent area, with its attendant automobile gridlock, you’d get an idea of what they are saying...of course, they go off the rails by recommending forced reductions of populations...
I have the blu ray dvd set. Came out as high def tvs were just becoming a thing. Beautiful pics and all but my takeaway was animals love to eat other animals. It sort of serves the dramatic need but it also gets tedious after a while. The eco message was a given since it came from the BBC. IIRC the end of it was with shots of whales at the surface which of course is an eco animal supreme. They weren’t gonna end it with some shots of insects.
