Public health leaders in Placer, Sacramento and Yolo counties say their departments will no longer recommend isolation or quarantine for people exposed to someone with COVID-19, as they now will focus on reducing the risk to populations at the greatest risk of dying from the respiratory illness.
In an interview Monday, Dr. Peter Beilenson, head of Sacramento Countys Department of Health Services, said public health officials quarantined the sick and those who came into close contact with them as a way to slow spread of the disease, but as the number of cases increase statewide, public health has to acknowledge that those measures arent enough.
Once you get a certain number of cases, its hard to continue to contact-trace back the way you tried originally, Beilenson said, so we move to mitigation, which is basically trying to mitigate the risk to those who are most at risk: the elderly and those with chronic underlying conditions.

oh boy..wonder what Indy and Nebraska will do if that Coach has Wuhan
In other words, it really is like the flu, but more dangerous for old people.
JUSTA FLU
Only....
20% fatal to age 60+ exposed to it.
Every person on Earth will personally know someone who died from it.
But Justaflu. Go about your business. The leftists hyped it.
Yep, everyone in the US is moving from “containment/quarantine” to “slow the spread”. Lack of USA testing in Jan./Feb. led to the community spread phase quickly. South Korea did it right and their daily new case rate is down.
Yup...we cancelled our trailer trip to SAC County...we’re old. We’re quarantining ourselves from the younguns’
This was expected.
But I wonder if they are really overwhelmed with the contact tracing or just lazy.
France waive the white flag early on and declared they weren’t going to do tracing. They are now 5th in number of cases.
The sooner you give up, the sooner you’ll be deciding who gets ICU and who dies.
send in the national guard and lock it down
I'm more than glad that I no longer live in Sacto County.
In a way, this is a death panel, and those over 60 are the losers.
excellent news!
Put a military quarantine around the county—problem solved...their stupidity should not be our problem.
In other words, it really is like the flu, but more dangerous for old people.
You mean its really like the flu except that it rapidly overwhelms the number of ventilators, ICU beds, and hospital beds available unless stringent measures are taken.
They wanted to spread.
Theres an article in Newsweak about the situation in Italy. Everyone knows that this virus spreads easily and is more deadly. Because northern Italy did not limit social interaction, everyone is catching a disease at the same time. People with health conditions and the elderly are showing up at hospitals at the same time. The health service system is overwhelmed, and everyone cannot get the treatment they need to survive. That is why the death rate is so high. And that, is why we need to slow the spread of this disease.
But Democrats want the disease to spread quickly so that our health care system is overwhelmed as well. Then they can blame Trump for the high death rate!
It works out great for them in November as they sieze power and take over the healthcare system! Too bad for the dead though, but you cant make an omelette without breaking some eggs,
boo hoo, it’s hard. Give me a break. How do you mitigate the risk to seniors and other high risk if you don’t quarantine the exposed?
Sacramento never ceases to amaze me.
meanwhile: all but six of Osakas 55 infections have been linked to one or several of four small live houses in Osaka city. (live music venues)

Where does this “Korea did it right” idea come from?
I’m hearing the from Democrats but the reality is that Korea has the fourth highest number of “globalism uber alles” COVID-19 cases in the word.

They did it right on testing...they had one “super-spreader” in a large religious meeting/revival (thousands of attendees) that jump-started their outbreak. So the “they did it right” comments are related to their testing response that allowed them to now have a declining daily new case rate.
If they did right, why do they have ten times as many infected as Japan?
“South Korea did it right,” sounds like, “the operation was a success but the patient died,” kind of statement.
They had a massive outbreak...my “they got it right” statement is in regard to their testing and resulting containment success. Their daily new case rate is falling while the USA new case rate is just getting started. They are a couple of weeks ahead of us on the curve tho..
