Sound like a know-nothing Party School.

Yes. Can you add anything more specific? That describes 99% of schools in 2020. Like saying the school where they drink beer, smoke dope and think WWII came before the American Civil War (in a national survey). Lots of those.

Detroit based Radio host Dick Purtan, UoMi vs OSU annual game broadcast "fight" song:

"Liquidate Ohio State and humble Woody Hayes.

They breed a lot of cattle in Columbus,

Send them off to graze.

Knock them off their Ivory Tower.

Send them crawling into the shower.

Down with Ohio State,

It's a know-nothing party school.

Bust your guts for Woody,

Move your butts for Woody!"

Unintended consequence...the panic of the virus causing classes to be done remotely. Acceleration of online university education, causing competition for quality online classes, by quality professors, not bound by location.

I was planning on attending a class at UD on Saturday. Since it has been cancelled too, can I join in the drunken, beer bottle throwing fun.

I've been in favor for a decade or so.

The Richard Feynman YouTube Physics Lectures are still pretty good.

Ted talks have some good ones with the detritus/nonsense. Royal Society was good too. Found out AI beat human go champion a couple of years ago. AI proved if you play a couple of million progressively harder games against yourself, you may figure out which moves are scalably better or worse. It was about ten years earlier than predicted.

We used to go to the park and drink beer instead of destroying stuff.

As a Michigander FReeper I want you to know I can’t stand U of Michigan, where I worked in the Graduate Library from 1969-1986. They fully deserve any punishments they get. One vignette: when the Supreme Court allowed discrimination against men as revenge for women in the affirmative action ruling, the NYT said U of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman was “caught” by the reporter “skipping” and showing glee saying “we won” on the important part of the ruling. Another paper said she “giggled” with happiness. POS.

Just yesterday it was allowed out to us in the news (censored , though) that the first 2 people in MI with the virus are now in the hospital. Not people from my county. The one from Wayne County (home of the despicable City of Detroit which I have boycotted for decades, proudly).

That guy who “travelled internationally” and has tested to have the virus. Won’t say what country he went to. Secret.

That guy was moved to the f-—ing U. of Michigan hospital system near me. They won’t even disclose which building of the sprawling campus he’s in. Secret. Why bring the sick guy to MY county? Hope they handle the virus better than the Chicoms who spread it all over Wuhan and then the world.

Here is a non-secret: U of Michigan, I hate you. Now more than the decades of bitterness I had already.

https://www.uofmhealth.org/coronavirus-covid-19-update

“Updated March 11, 2020

A patient with confirmed COVID19 is an inpatient at the University of Michigan Health System. The patient is in stable condition.

We are confident that we are using proper precautions with this patient who was carefully isolated to minimize the risk of exposure to our employees and patients.

Based on that, risk of infection is low for our employees and visitors, even if you work in our hospitals or near the unit where the patient is isolated. Risk is considered high if you have prolonged exposure to someone with symptoms without appropriate protective equipment.

This is a rapidly evolving situation. U-M officials and medical experts, in close coordination with the state and local public health experts, are closely monitoring for developments and will offer additional guidance to the Michigan Medicine community as soon as it is available.”

““For weeks, Michigan Medicine teams have been preparing to care for patients infected with COVID-19 if the need arises. Our teams will take all necessary precautions to triage patients appropriately and prevent the spread of the virus. We continue to work closely with state and local public health officials to monitor the disease and the best practices for containment.”

Marschall. S. Runge, M.D., Ph.D.
CEO, Michigan Medicine”

*******************************************

This makes it sound like they are thrilled to finally be able to bring the virus into the Hospital.

Yes.

Ridiculous.

Instead of keeping the virus far away to pursue “containment” strategy of America up to now, U of Michigan literally brings the virus carrier into my area!

Thanks you scum sucking virtue signalling leftist propaganda brainwashing academics./s
