Biden Adds Michigan, Delivering Blow to Sanders

WASHINGTON (AP) — Joe Biden won Michigan’s Democratic primary on Tuesday, seizing a key battleground state that helped propel Bernie Sanders’ insurgent candidacy four years ago. The former vice president’s victory in Michigan, as well as Missouri and Mississippi, dealt a serious blow to Sanders, who is urgently seeking to jump-start his flagging campaign.

Sanders could still get a boost later in the night in Idaho, North Dakota or Washington state. But fewer delegates were at stake than in Mississippi, Missouri and Michigan, where Biden’s decisive performance again showed his strength with working-class voters and African Americans, who are vital to winning the Democratic nomination.

It’s a dramatic reversal of fortune for Biden, whose campaign appeared on the brink of collapse just two weeks ago. Sanders opened the nomination process with strong showings in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada, but Biden rebounded in South Carolina and built on that success with a surprise Super Tuesday rout last week.

FWIW, in MO, President Trump in an essentially uncontested vote got more votes than all of the dems combined.

This whole Democrat primary election farce is a tale told by idiots!

There is not chance in Hell, irrespective of who “wins” the nomination, that ANY Democrat is going to become POTUS in 2021!

Sorry Bernie, You blew it when you took the bait and started apologizing for Castro and his ilk. Otherwise you were fooling enough people.

That’s what happened in Texas as well. I have never seen such energy on the Republican side. You’d never know because you know who does not report it.

Actually I looked at Michigan, Missouri and Mississippi results. The democrats outpolled Trump in each state.

Trump did well for an uncontested primary.

So Biden rolls all the way to Milwaukee and gets the nomination?

Or now does he get screwed over too because he's demented? Which, actually, would be a good reason for the superdelegates to make other plans... you know... except for she's just plain ol' evil.

A couple (maybe more) of Sanders’ supporters stated that they hope he will go 3rd party. I greatly doubt it.

Biden was somewhat okay in a debate with five or six other candidates. He didn’t have to say much. I think the Democrats are petrified of the spectacle he would make in a debate with only one opponent, which would require him to make sense for 90 minutes or so. Thus, they want Bernie out before their scheduled debate takes place.

In many states, one can’t be a third party if he runs unsuccessfully in the primary.
