Passengers of the Grand Princess cruise ship have begun disembarking after 21 of the ship's 2,400 crew and guests tested positive for coronavirus. One couple is filing a lawsuit against the cruise line, arguing it put their health at risk after 12 coronavirus cases and one death occurred as a result of the ship's previous trip.
"My condition is not the best. I have a pacemaker, a defibrillator in my chest," passenger Ron Weissberger told CBS News' Carter Evans.
Weissberger and his wife are suing the cruise line's parent company because they claim it continued to sail "knowing that some passengers and crew had already been exposed to COVID-19 "
"If we would have known, let's say before we landed in the first port, we would have gotten off that ship and flown back home," he said. "I want to let other passengers know what they are getting into once they sign up for a cruise."
Despite the recent coronavirus outbreaks at sea, six more cruise ships set sail on Monday. The $53 billion industry is expected to take a hit after the State Department warned Americans not to take cruises.

Tough and aggressive lawyers are waiting to take your call....
Row, row, row your boat...
...life is but a game.
Yeah, if they line knew that they should be liable, but anyone getting on a cruise ship in the current environment is taking a risk they couldn’t possibly not be aware of. So schlepp the thing to a jury trial and even if they find negligence, they need to divide responsibility between the multiple liable parties. And the chances of damages to those who share the responsibility are low, leaving even that split to be about the limited actual damages from getting vacay extended.
i ran out of my stock of tiny violins
“Tough and aggressive lawyers are waiting to take your call....”
Isn’t that the truth. Imagine that...

TSA wasnt testing people for temperatures yesterday.
The virus can not show symptoms for up to 24 days.
Expect some national legislation to limit liability.
Ports wouldn’t let the ship dock, and force majure seems to be in play.
(I only passed FreeRepublic the Bar Exam)
In non-election season, half our local tv adverts are for ambulance chasers. (The other half are for car dealers LOL).
The Shark and The Hammer are joining forces.
That’s more than me!
But he seems to be claiming that they would have got off at a port they were allowed to go to, had they known of the crew members’ exposure.
A friends wife and sister got on a cruise ship in ft Lauderdale Saturday for 8 days
I still can’t believe they went
Both are RNs and friends wife works in nursing home
I predict she’ll get an extra 2 weeks off when they get back
I think I’d written off my fare and learn to buy the trip insurance next time
This couple has a daughter with her own law firm (though in FL): https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/her-elderly-parents-are-stuck-on-a-coronavirus-infected-cruise-ship-so-shes-suing/ar-BB10XU5V
I’m sure this whole mess will be a “jobs program” for tort lawyers.
The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.
William Shakespeare, King Henry VI, Part 2
It’s very lucrative. John Rielle Hunter Edwards said so. He was such a good lawyer. He set the bar high.
I will say though, who wants to touch a letter slipped under the door in such circumstances, don’t ships have better communications than that?
Saul Goodman’s currently offering 50% off.
19 of 21 infected are crew. The ship obviously was not decontaminated after last contaminated cruise. This is cruise line fault. They should and will lose. The cruise line industry if feeding the news because of the spread on their ships, the captive passengers, and all streamed live for anyone caring to watch. Now the government says skip cruises. A little late, but should be mandatory for the moment. Dock all of the ships and sit this out. (This will have longterm impact on industry, who will want to go on a cruise next year? Or, bet there will be some great bargains for those willing to risk illness and quarantine.)
Grand Princess = Grand Payouts.
