They won't mess with us but the bloodshed and revenge that the Taliban will impose as they drag Afghanistan back to the ninth century won't be pretty. Wouldn't want to be an educated Afghan woman, or educated Afghan man for that matter, for all the money in the world once they're back in control.

The ultimate consideration is it is the Afghan’s country so it’s up to them. The US cannot continue as global cop and nation-builder: it’s too expensive in $$$ and lives plus contrary to the importance of self-determination being the key to success.

Might be other reasons for this article, but I can think of only one...to make Trump look like an idiot. News is only “news” if it can be spun to hurt Trump.
They should have had an “ if you don’t, we defoliate every poopy field in sight!” Clause.
1. We need to leave regardless
2. The Afghan government does not want us to leave - we are their economy and we prevent them from being hanged
