EPA Releases List Of Best Disinfectants To Use Against Coronavirus

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a list Tuesday of qualified disinfectants to use for protection against the coronavirus.

“The EPA-registered disinfectant products on our Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2 list have qualified under EPA’s emerging viral pathogen program for use against SARS-CoV-2, a coronavirus that causes COVID-19,” the website stated.

Coronaviruses are enveloped viruses, which means they are among the easiest types to kill with the appropriate disinfectant, according to the EPA.

There may be additional disinfectants that meet the criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2. EPA will update this list with additional products as needed,” the agency stated.

Some of the product brands on the EPA’s list include:

•Clorox Healthcare Bleach Germicidal Cleaner Spray
•Clorox Disinfecting Wipes
•Lysol Disinfectant Max Cover Mist
•Professional Lysol Disinfectant Spray
•Purell Professional Surface Disinfectant Wipes
•Peak Disinfectant Wipes
•Sani-Prime Germicidal Spray
•Sani-Cloth Prime Germicidal Disposable Wipe

The virus is believed to be spread by people in close contact with each other and through respiratory droplets produced when a person infected with the virus coughs or sneezes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) website.

“It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads,” the site read.

In a press release Thursday, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler said using the right disinfectant is a huge part of preventing and reducing the spread of illness.

“There is no higher priority for the Trump Administration than protecting the health and safety of Americans,” he noted, adding, “EPA is providing this important information in a public and transparent manner

I suspect our Millennials and Gen Z are mostly lax about what they have heard doesn’t affect them, but instead just pushes Boomers into the big suburb in the sky.

Snow flake logic: Why buy something now wait to the last minute you meet more people and it costs more.

Walmart stores I was at this week were all stocked with bleach and cleaning wipes. Only alcohol and hand sanitizer had empty shelves, and the next day the alcohol shelf was restocked.

Plenty of dish detergent and toilet paper on the shelves. Diapers were everywhere. No shortages.

Don’t forget rubbing alcohol. Most Prepper sites will tell you which foods to stock up on. Only fresh perishable are not going to last. Water by by the gallons. You have to drink, wash, and clean with it.

Bleach is the oldest disinfectant besides Alcohol or Vinegar. Just dilute them. These are the things NOT flying off shelves.

Hadn’t thought about 714’s in a while. Even a 1/4 would make me forget arthritis and sleep better than the crap out now, probably without fossilization of my my organs to boot

Same in a doc’s office, touch nothing, magazines hold germs, virus, bacteria for weeks. Even their ink pens are contaminated.

Had to see the ENDO Thursday new Type 2 diabetic drug broke me out in a bad case of Hives. No one but the lab lady had gloves on. No one at the Navy base Pharmacy had any gear on.

Same when I did groceries Friday, except all the most common cleaning/hand stuff was empty. Plenty of bleach and Rubbing Alcohol, and vinegar.

Wouldn’t you first ask biochemists or physicians for recommendations on killing viruses? The EPA has a bit of a conflicted agenda here. A substance may be really effective but it might be a problem if it gets into the ground water or streams.

Just why does EPA have or distribute any information on the "best" disinfectants to stop any disease???

Isn't that the job of local medical facilities and/or the CDC...
Talk about mission creep!

Rubbing alcohol won’t work. It is only 40% alcohol. Try Everclear at 85% alcohol. It has to b e over 60%.
