A nursing home and a retirement community in the Seattle area announced on Friday cases of COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus, which is particularly dangerous for older patients.
Ida Culver House Ravenna, a retirement community in Northeast Seattle, and Issaquah Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, a skilled nursing facility, each said a single resident had been hospitalized and that access to their campuses was restricted as a precaution.
At Issaquah, the resident was taken to a hospital on Tuesday and remains hospitalized as of Friday afternoon. No other cases have been reported there.
Three Eastside Fire & Rescue firefighters who responded there have been quarantined out of abundance of caution and arent showing any symptoms, Deputy Chief Rich Burke said.
The Ida Culver House resident has been in the hospital since Wednesday and will remain quarantined off-site for at least two weeks, according to an email sent to residents.
Management from Era Living, which runs the Ida Culver House, said they believe the case is isolated and that they dont have any more information about where the resident might have been exposed.
The new cases add to concern about the impact of coronavirus at regional nursing and assisted living communities. The nursing home Life Care Center of Kirland has been hit hardest of any facility in the country, with 34 cases among residents, staff or visitors, and 10 deaths.

Coronavirus Connie really gets around
The Issaquah Facility is the super troublesome location here as far as exposure to the broader public. Lets say you have orthopedic surgery. They discharge you from the hospital but you still need to go somewhere to rehab and learn to walk again. That is what the Issaquah Facility is. If more cases come out of there, they will not be age limited. That facility has a large number of new patients checking in and others checking out daily. There is also a continuos flow of dozens of people per hour visiting patients, unlike a lot of nursing homes.
That’s not good.
Expect many more cases in this area.
Are either of these places near Hoquiam? My daughter is supposed to vacation there in two weeks.
It sure would be easy for deep state connected parties to put out false reports.
Who knows what anyone really tested positive for?
No they are not — Hoquiam is near the coast.
Vacation in Hoquiam?
Strange ....
That is a decrepit sawmill town. Hopefully, she’s out on the coast.
What if they’re claiming people with the common cold “test positive for coronavirus,” and then giving them a lethal dose of potassium chloride when nobody’s looking?
What does it matter, it’s just old people dying?
/demented FReepers.
My thoughts on this are this virus has been in the country for MONTHS now the elderly that have passed previously were thought to have passed of the flu this virus is ONLY deadly to the elderly with compromised immune systems the same as it would be with the flu!!! The media has created such hysteria over this we are just now finding the virus which has been here for a while!! This virus was in China since October it is believed with all of the people traveling to and from China in that period of time there is absolutely NO WAY that this virus hasnt been here for a while!!!
The strain in WA has been traced back to a Covid branch from over 6 weeks ago. It’s been here at least that long, and only testing will shed light on it.
Used to live in Issaquah. Awesome, beautiful little city at the foot of the cascades.
I kinda fit that description, but always get flu shots to avoid getting into a serious life threatening situation. Without a vaccine available at this time, I feel like a Jew in Nazi Germany just waiting for IT to get me - its not a fun feeling.
She has very close friends there. Yes, I saw pictures and it looks rundown.
Oh, well...better than Italy (which was her other choice.)
Sure but remember, the deep state wants as many deaths as possible from the coronavirus.
So they will do whatever they can to make us think flu deaths, and deaths from other things, are in fact coronavirus deaths.
same - now I’m over SE Kitsap and on 5 acres and retired hopefully it won’t come over her
You just need to be careful, I have my 90 yr. old mom living with me right now and I am just being extremely careful about going grocery shopping ect. very early in the morning when there are very few people around!! I make sure all surfaces are sanitized at all times, wash my hands all the time!!! Right now I am completely avoiding any areas with a lot of people for her sake!! This will blow over faster than we think if the media would knock off the hysteria!!! You WILL BE fine just be cautious!!!
It’s not that bad, and yes, relatively isolated.
I hope the deep state also authorizes mental health treatment for people like you.
