LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky has confirmed its first case of the novel coronavirus, and Gov. Andy Beshear Friday afternoon declared a state of emergency.
The patient is at UK Chander Hospital in Lexington and is being treated in isolation.
The governor said he was not ready to release information about the persons travel, but Kentucky Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack said experts will begin "contact tracing" to determine with whom the infected person was in contact and where they traveled.
Ten people in Kentucky have been tested for the virus and the results were negative for nine of them, state officials said.

First case reported in Utah tonight, too.
We are not afraid. Throw your best We are not afraid.
Meanwhile I, yep in Kentucky (not near Lexington), am fighting a (so far) moderate cold. I did get a flu shot this year, but there’s no guarantee it covered all the varieties going around.
After having a rather close call last year with flu that morphed into pneumonia & 4 days in the hospital I am a little paranoid because of my age.
But....we always keep a substantial supply of TP in the attic. So, I am sure of at least dying with a clean ass. LOL
Two cases reported in Pa. today...Wayne County and Delaware County.
I can relate ....though not hospitalized I had two cases of flu back to back several years ago. Miserable doesn’t say enough. So every year since then I have a preparatory routine before flu season and precautions I take now.
I just read the CDC is encouraging ages 60+ now to stay at home throughout the US if any underlying health issues or disabilities. Including family gatherings, events etc. They suggested getting groceries also during the evenings rather than busy hours. Which is actually a good idea...we have a 24 hour Super Wallmart here and so I’m going to do just that.
I'm here in Western Pa and so far none but that's likely to change down the road...meanwile I'll take the CDC's advice they put out today and stay at home and away from people gatherings etc.
They arent testing people. Show up at the hospital with symptoms and they will not test. I will donate 10o to FR if someone can get a COV19 test and tell me how they got it without saying I was in Wuhaun last week.
They’re all looking to take a a cut of that 9 billion in federal allocation for this derivative flu virus. When was the last time a state gov servant wanted to take something for nothingfor the common cold or flu?
You can also go at 6:00 in the morning everything is freshly stocked and most Walmart shoppers dont get up that early!! I always do my shopping at 6:00 am no one in the store!!
I am 200 miles away from both of those counties.
However, Philly is only 22 miles from Delco. I am near Williamsport, which is nicknamed “Little Philly” because the drug dealers travel up here every weekend to peddle their wares.
So, it’s only a matter of time.
It’s a pretty sure thing with the woman in Delaware Cty. She attended a conference in Boston two weeks ago. Several other cases are in people who went to this conference.
Now that the coronavirus has been outed as a deep state-democrat plot to prevent Trump’s reelection, all cases “confirmed to be coronavirus” should be reviewed by a non-deep state panel of patriots to determine if in fact it really is what they say it is.
The deep state wants nothing more than as many deaths as possible to be attributed to this “coronavirus.”
My doctor also made the suggestion that when you were in a closed situation to stick a cold ez in your mouth and suck on it. He said that the zinc in them makes the mucus areas in your mouth less hospitable to viruses settling in on them.
I told him all I need to do now is figure out how to stick one up my nose lol
He also suggested that I shop at the grocery store online & just drive by and pick up the food. Some Walmarts have that, and our Kroger does.
Well I’ll be.... I am well familiar with Willamsport....used to work at the Lycoming Airport and lived in quaint little Muncy.
I thought Williampsport had pretty much clamped down on the drug traffic several years ago when the drug deals were going down in peoples front yards in the daylight. It was horrible then after that female mayor instituted bringing recovering addicts from Phili to Williamsport for a fresh start. All that did was open a new supply route.
Our Walmart has pick up...but I prefer doing my own shopping.
The zinc idea might work but there are limits I will go in protecting myself. I put a hold on physical therapy sessions for now. And will shop off hours. Otherwise it’s the same routine for the flu.
E-gads! 6:00 for shopping is way to early shopping for this night hawk! LOL
My cat gets me up at the crack of dawn every morning for breakfast, and he doesnt take NO for an answer!!!
Indianapolis guy was Boston conference attendee.
