Sen. Bernie Sanders really would be an easier candidate for President Donald Trump to campaign against in November. Sanders is so far left, with a history of burning bridges, that Trump and the Republican Party could easily and deservedly vilify him.
The American public got a taste of Sanders, the true believer in communist revolution, when he sat for an interview with Anderson Cooper on "60 Minutes." Sanders praised Cuban dictator Fidel Castro for a literacy program after the Cuban revolution. Never mind that Castro also rounded up dissidents, engaged in mass murder and pulled his people into unending poverty. At least they could read how poor they were.
On Tuesday night, across the country, it appeared Democrats mostly rejected Sanders. In states Sanders won, former Vice President Joe Biden came close. In states like Virginia, where Sanders had been ahead in recent polling, Biden decisively crushed him. Sanders got a few good wins, including California. However, even California was closer than it should have been, and in Sanders' home state of Vermont, Biden drew closer than anyone expected he could.
Believe no pundit who said they saw the Super Tuesday results coming. On the morning of Super Tuesday, some polls showed Sanders winning 10 of the 14 states. While some votes are even now outstanding, it looks like Biden won 10 of the 14. In fact, Biden won Oklahoma, Minnesota and Massachusetts with very little campaigning in those states.

The “King Makers” in the MSM believe they can pull Biden over the finish line in 2020. They will use his ‘disability’ of stuttering or call his gaffes ‘endearing’ and if you don’t agree, you’re a Bully.
They are still under the illusion they ‘made’ Trump in 2016 by giving him exposure. If Trump is denied in 2020, they will double their efforts to maintain their perceived power over all elections.

Biden, nobody believes in this guy and nobody has any enthusiasm for him.

Trump played the dems, they just don’t see it yet.
They picked the candidate they believe will do the least damage to them down the ticket who was NOT named Bernie.
I have followed politics pretty closely for decades and I have NEVER seen a shift in only a few days like the one we witnessed last week. The media, DNC, and most democrats pushed Biden from zero to hero in three news cycles.
Why?
I think they realized collectively that a Sanders candidacy was inevitable and it would be devastating on the national level down the ticket. This was a huge reset from the lurch to the far left we have witnessed and there were no good choices.... they are panicked because Trump is picking up voters from their traditional base, polls well with independents, and has incredible support with his own base. An openly socialist candidate at the top of the ticket would cost them the house, cost them state offices, and potentially cement the loss of democrat voters to the GOP.
They had no good choices in the field, but the longer the race continued the more likely the worst choice would be the nominee with a tumultuous convention. In addition, their biggest dollar donors would not support Bernie who casts them as villains and promises to seize their wealth for the good of the state.
Biden will lurch back to the middle now as the DNC finally realized what we have been saying for months - they cannot win nationally with a far left platform.

That’s the crux of it right there.
Sanders got paid off from the DNC 4 years ago. His role is to keep the naive leftists from going third party. He could easily hurt Biden if he wanted to, just as he could easily have hurt Hillary 4 years ago, but he does not. It’s not because he is a nice guy. He has 50 years in politics and knows how to win. He is the democrat version of Paul Ryan and the Tea Party- string the populists along, only to disappoint them after the election. We conservatives got wise to this in 2016.
This year the Democrats are choosing between Santa Claus (Bernie) and Insanity Clause (Biden).
Biden makes this an Obama vs. Trump election with Bidens support for busing, Dem Segregationists, And Biden corruption.

My preference for Trump’s opponent is Biden also for the same reasons as you stated.
