SAN JOSE (KPIX 5) Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose is prepping surge tents to handle a possible influx of coronavirus cases.
The tan-colored tents are currently erected on the southern border of the hospitals property, facing Samartian Drive, directly adjacent to the emergency rooms paramedic entrance and the public sidewalk.
The footprint of the two identical structures measures 15 feet by 30 feet and stands about 10 feet tall in the center. Each one is large enough to handle up to six patients at a time while still allowing the minimum six foot exclusion zone, the distance health officials say is sufficient to prevent human-to-human transmission of the disease.

Why would they be doing this for the flu?
At what point will the “no problem” and “it’s just a flu” people issue apologies for their extreme hostility to those of us with a clue? Hope for the best, Prepare for the worst...
Drove by them yesterday. Today, the public health department is recommending canceling all mass gatherings.
Our son lives with us and is a cashier at Whole Foods. He also goes out a lot. I’m worried he’s going to make us sick.
He is a physicist now.
Because after screaming that his is the greatest emergency in history, people feign shock when authorities react at a level equal to their shouting.
Oddly the same people that bitch about the TSA reacting to 9-11 as they did.
So yeah. You asked for it. So shut up and be happy.
A Portland hospital had it’s tent up next to the ER this week. Notes on the doors at hospital entrances said it was a drill. I think they may need a few more than just that one.
Good answer.
That cartoon is perfect.
Your house. Your rules.
Seven weeks ago:
“A surge of newly confirmed novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) cases since Friday in Wuhan has pushed the outbreak total to 198 cases”
but flu?
Noooooooooooo.
You insist it is far beyond that, so your government is metting the expectation.
Or would you prefer them to not? Make up your mind.
Wondered WTF that was when I drove past Good Sam this afternoon...
Stupid.
Now the homeless will move in.
I keep seeing this posted with the concepts sorta right.
A couple of points here.
1. Diskette? Even back in 1981, I knew there would be portable storage that was not diskettes. It was talked about as theoretical at the time.
2. It’s not a microorganism, it’s a virus.
3. It affects other creatures
4. It appears to last 9 hours on surfaces
5. It goes dormant in corpses and can infect long after the host is dead.
6. It’s not funguslike
7. It’s not a bacteria
8. Remdesivir appears to have some therapeutic application, there are probably others.
9. Areas need to be decontaminated after exposure.
10. It’s not nearly as deadly as an effective bioweapon should be. 3.5%? Crappy weapon.
11. Targets the wrong demographic. You want to kill people 40 and under, not the opposite.
Yes, I know, it’s shocking that a fiction writer got the town and some details sorta correct in a novel about a bio weapon 30 years ago. That’s about all he got right.
