IMO, he misread the political landscape and there was nobody around him that has the guts to say “Not a good idea”. Nobody in the media challenged him at all, it was really the other candidates and the audiences that raised any serious questions. He’s the textbook example of someone living life in a protective bubble protected by armed security and surrounded by highly compensated sycophants who like getting paid.

I was tempted to try to join his team to get the bennies and freebies but too late. Free phone, free laptop, transportation stipend, healthcare, free food, expense account.
