Does America Suffer from an 'Emotional Illness' on Race?

Last Wednesday, the House Committee on Oversight and Reform held a hearing on "Voter Suppression in Minority Communities: Learning from the Past to Protect Our Future." The hearing was based on the premise that "today, many Americans — especially those in minority communities — face significant barriers to registering to vote and casting a ballot."

One witness, civil rights activist Diane Nash, delusionally claimed that America "was founded on genocide," which was an "extremely fundamental institution in our history." She went on to state that "we look on the value of lives of Europeans and white Americans and Australians and maybe Israelis as much more valuable than the lives of people who are Asian, African, and Latin American."

First, as an American Jew, I take issue with the loose use of the term "genocide" to describe America's founding. The Holocaust was a genocide; Rwandans faced a genocide, as did the Armenians. But even if you agree with Ms. Nash, what occurred 300 years ago in the Americas is not something that was foundational to our founding and is not enshrined in our Constitution today. Today, our history books — until now, with the New York Times attempting to rewrite history with its 1619 Project — accurately portray what was done to American Indians and slaves. Despite Nash's claims otherwise, we do in fact acknowledge our historical mistakes.

I think we need a national discussion about racism. Exactly how should it properly be defined?

Regarding blacks, this land of opportunity has worked well for them for they have substantial numbers in every aspect of American society and modern culture. And it has become successful because the white people willed it happen. I know of no area of American life where black people are not only welcome, but are already succeeding. Is it necessary to continue coddling them by guarding words, yearbook pictures, etc??

This racism rant must come to an end.

Except for a few small, insignificant pockets where it will never be eradicated. America is not a racist nation.

The Democrats are the ones who keep opening up that racial wound, and they do it on purpose to empower themselves while doing nothing for the people they claim to be standing up for. Racial division and strife are part of the Democrat Party handbook and they’ll keep playing those “cards” as long as it benefits them politically!

At this point in their sordid history I think the Democrats are finally starting to alienate blacks

We finally have a real man is a president that’s willing to call out the Democrats on their lies hypocrisy and all the bull crap they’ve been telling blacks for all kinds of decades

And Dad the Democrats are starting to cater more and more to illegal aliens at the expense of blacks they’re starting to see that all Democrats really give a shiiite about his power for themselves and they don’t give a shiiite about aliens legal or not black women and gays

All of these little desperate groups are just pawns that they care about for about five minutes during election day
