Sanders Camp Ignores Socialism's Total Failure

Young Americans are flocking to the “socialist” banner that Bernie Sanders is waving. It sounds new and exciting, but it’s anything but new. It’s a tempting political vision that has been tried many times, in many ways, and in many places. The results make for a long litany of failure, most recently in Venezuela.

In 1998, Hugo Chavez came to power, proclaiming a vaguely defined “revolution” that was “anti-Yanqui,” pro-Cuba, and solicitous of the poor. Government intervention in the economy increased exponentially and spending on social programs multiplied, sustained by seemingly limitless oil revenues. Chavez won four national elections in a row. But shortages began to appear in basic commodities, and when oil prices fell under Chavez’s hand-picked successor, Nicolas Maduro, the fatal flaw in “Chavismo” was starkly revealed.

I think that posturing as a socialist has been quite successful.

The number of people seeking to lead so that they can actually behave like a socialist is about zero.

Now, the number of people seeking to make a lot of money by claiming to be a socialist is high.

“Socialism - Lazy incompetents who want to live in the palace and fly in the government jet.”

Seems they think wealth is a durable natural resource, merely needs redistribution for fairness.
Seems they think workers will work no less when net pay is much less.

I have yet to encounter an avowed socialist who expresses the slightest expectation that they will in fact work at all.

Interesting how those so interested in workERS are so disinterested in workING.

Socialists don’t care about whether or not their policies are successful. They are interested only in power and control.

I still remember that video of the big black lady who said that when Obama was elected”
I won’t have to pay my mortgage don’t know I won’t have to pay for my car insurance no more everything will be taken care of “

this is what the Democrats do.

Giant Santa Claus party on the one hand but on the other hand they just constantly paint Republicans as every kind of evil under the sun

there are no more evil and vicious people on the planet the Democrats

Fortunately for a true Americans with a brain they’re also incredibly stupid

Sanders knows socialism is a failure except for those at the top and Sanders wants to be at the top as he enjoys his 3 homes and a Porsche and the millions of dollars he has.

I understand that socialism is bad. Mostly because it means that the government can take over large swaths of your life. And government always devolves into some combination of the post office and the IRS. Too controlling and too unwilling to evolve. And of course government is highly susceptible to regulatory capture. Meaning that it quickly becomes the tool of those who can make money from its decisions, not the people its supposed to support. Witness the VA.

But with all that is wrong with socialism, there is nothing right about democrats like Biden. Biden is not a socialist per se. But he is a “moderate” place holder for people who want to slide socialism into place. Biden is only against the word socialism, not the actual practice. So I actually prefer Sanders. Because he is honest. And people can see what he wants to do. Then people can choose.

But there are millions of Americans who want to vote democrat but not vote socialism. I don’t think this choice exists unless its Gabbard. And actually it is far more prominent in the republican party, like Bush or Romney. The DNCs idea is to kill Bernie now. And let every democrat choose between a center left liar and a right winged candidate, Trump. Thereby leaving the left to chose the lessor of two evils. But if Sanders is the nominee the democrats have to look square at their choices. Socialism or America, which is it going to be boy. Like the question in Paradise by the Dash Board Lights, they will have to make a very uncomfortable decision that they will be forced to live with for a very long time.
