Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg was confronted during his town hall with Fox News on Monday over having an armed security detail while pushing for gun control that would affect regular people.
"How do you justify pushing for more gun control when you have an armed security detail thats likely equipped with the same firearms and magazines that you seek to ban the common citizen from owning? Does your life matter more than mine or my families or these peoples?" Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) supporter Clarke Chitty asked to cheers and applause.
"Look. Id probably get 40 or 50 threats every week, okay, and some of them are real. That just happens when you are the mayor of New York City or you are very wealthy, and if you are campaigning for the president of the United States, you get a lot of threats. So I have a security detail and I pay for it all myself. They are all retired police officers who are very well trained in firearms," Bloomberg said.
"Let me talk about firearms for a second. The Second Amendment gives you the right to bear arms. Nobody suggests that we're gonna change the Constitution, even if you wanted to you would be able to get it done. The Supreme Court said you can have 'reasonable restrictions.' The only restrictions which Im in favor of is to prevent us from selling guns to people with psychiatric problems, criminals or people that are minors," he continued.
Bloomberg then falsely stated only background checks are conducted at gun stores.
"The law does not apply to guns sold over the Internet or in gun shows. Why because those two things came after the law that applies to gun stores was passed, okay? And what I tried to do is to just to get every state, because the federal government doesnt seem to want to do it, to just check before they sell anybody a gun to make sure they are not in one of those categories where people I think most people would agree they should not have guns," he said.
When Bloomberg was finished with his answer, Fox News cut to commercial after protesters interrupted and started chanting and holding a banner.
Michael Bloomberg Confronted Over Having a Security Detail While Pushing for Gun Control
security for me, but not for thee!
ROFL
You cannot purchase a firearm online or via mail order.
Bloomberg does not know squat. Sure you can buy a gun on line or at a show, but you need to take delivery from a licensed firearms dealer who conducts the background check.
Mikey Napoleon Bloomberg. Petty tyrant with an ego the size of Lake Huron. Screw Bloomberg.
Say it ain’t so little mikey.
Pure B.S. NYS is looking to tax and trace ammo, force gun owners to carry high liability insurance, and force all handguns to have a gps?! system. I hear the crowds cheer when Trump brings up protecting the 2nd amendment, probably very important for voters in most states except NYS, MA, CA. That's not a winning platform for mini-mike.
He cannot help himself, he is an elitist and his answers convey that.
Yes, it does, Mikey. You don't even know the existing laws, and you don't care because your agenda is disarming America.
Even if what you said were true, why are you going after standard capacity magazines?
Every person calling for gun control should be asked the same question. I wish I could buy that man a meal.
Sure you can. It has to go through a FFL, but you can purchase a n-line.
I wish EVERY dem candidate or gun grabbing politician would be asked that at every town hall meeting, caucus, or whatever they hold.
Great question.
“Does your life matter more than mine or my families or these peoples?”
And Mini Mike completely evaded that question.
Has anyone bothered to explain why Fox wanted to give Mini Mike such prominent, national exposure the night before the vote.
Talk about election meddling. No foreign country could approach that.
That's step 1. Step 2 is to get every gun owner labeled with some kind of psychological problem ("Ever been diagnosed with anxiety, depression, or nervousness? Do you have trouble sleeping?"...)
Actually, you can. But the transferral to you must happen via a licensed dealer, and with background check. Some states may have stricter requirements, or ban completely, but not all.
Sorry Mike, what part of "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" do you not understand?
And we all know that dems do think that.
Especially, the politicians.

Not true. I do it under my C&R license once or twice a year.
