I was just at my local Publix near Greenville, SC. Water and Progresso soup shelves were pretty empty. Bleach shelves were about half full. Everything else was stocked as usual.
Unfortunately the liquor store had already closed by the time I got there. I go tomorrow to up my supply of brandy (hot toddies) and vodka (everything else).
Went to Sam's yesterday...I've really been done for about 3 weeks but wanted to pick up some bleach. About half gone. On the other hand it looks like they had ordered extra disinfectant wipes and toilet paper...they were both stocked to overflowing.
They know what's coming.
Publix in Fort Myers tonight had two for one sale on cans of Hormel chicken, I cleared out their stock of 60 cans. I eat that frequently so I’ll just keep my stock level high for a while in case there are shortages. May even hit another Publix in the morning to take advantage of the same bogo. I already have over a year supply of all my commonly used shelf stable products.
I don’t expect the virus itself to be anywhere near as much of a problem as is being hyped, but overzealous responses by people and governments will surely inconvenience our lives. New computer orders for work are already backordered indefinately at this time and I expect the flow of many other goods to dry up for a while.
Progresso soups are on sale at Publix this week.
