UTJ is haredi. Shas is a Mizrahi Zionist haredi party.

Shas is not Zionist at all. It follows the Sephardic (Mizrach) Rabbis regarding policy.

Insane that Israel gives Arabs the right to serve in parliament at all. 22 Arab states and not one allows that of Jews.

It changed its stand some years ago to be eligible to run in the World Zionist Organization elections.

That’s why it has ministers in the Israeli government where the haredi parties don’t have them because they don’t recognize the legitimacy of the Jewish State.

i guess it depends on how you define Zionist. If you consider recognizing the government as Zionist then some of the Arabs are also Zionists;)
If it’s committed to building up Zionist dreams & aspirations, then Shas is definitely not committed to that...
I think it was a technical change to be eligible to run in the WZO congress...

If a religious state, then Shas is Zionist. If not, then it isn’t. It depends on how one looks at what Israel is supposed to represent.

Shas is definitely not Zionist, but will become government ministers to advance religious Sefardic and Mizrachi cultural interests.

Labor’s Amir Peretz looks better without his walrus mustache.

Why is it insane? They are a democracy. For the most part, Arab states are not. Besides, there aren’t enough Jews anymore in those states to make a difference. That is one of the main reasons why Israel has not officially annexed the West Bank and made it a part of Israel - it would increase Arab Knesset members and one day they would be the majority.

If I recall he wore a Borsalino with a stylishly raked brim. It was back in 06 or thereabouts.

Yeah, I know. That’s why I asked if the Rabbi was an Ashkenazim.

Anything else you’d like to tell me about my country’s political parties?

2006? Ancient history for Israeli political parties.

About 100 have come and gone.

Probably Agudat Yisrael, which is now part of UTJ.

But no clue, really.

The Labor Party is on the verge of extinction. They gone through leader after leader and have never recovered ground.

They still lost... resoundingly... my guess is the Knesset will pass a law deferring Bibi’s trial as long as he remains in office.

Channel 13 just updated its projection. Kachol Lavan picks up two seats for 34 and a Likud led coalition falls to 59.
