The work crew had started ripping off the roof of Belinda Hungate's home in Spring Hill on February 20 when she was woken by the noise.
She then confronted the crew, but she said that they didn't speak English.
.
.
.
'They did not speak English. The sub-contractor is from Honduras. No business cards, no contractors license,' her husband Philip Hungate told DailyMail.com.
'My wife called me at work in a panic saying there were guys on the roof and they were tearing things off.'

On an 8-12 without any visible means of support?
Oh, it's GOOD to be young and dumb...
You could stiff the builder of the Top Dollar he was expecting, but give him something for the effort on top of the materials.
But who on earth is going to trust a contractor (??) from Honduras or anywhere else, who has made such a mistake to follow through and put a decent roof back on the house? I sure wouldn’t..
Plus all the Bonuses You get from them just sliding the old roof AND the nails to the ground. Later to be found with either someone getting a Nail or Staple in the Foot or it getting into the Riding Mower Tyre.
And the Crew smiles and says in broken English that they will drag a Debris Magnet around the House- thats all fine and dandy tor the METALLIC items but doesnt do anything to get the Aluminum Roofing Nails...
“”If that goes nowhere then fill a civil suit against the contractor and the general contractor.””
That would no doubt be a meaningless gesture...
Neil Diamond should write a song about her.
100%... so the beaners no bic? bet they speak S&W!!!
The builder was the guy who built the house on the wrong land. Legally, the landowner could claim a free house.
Sometimes your brain fills in words, kind of like autocorrect. Oh roof! Not clothes.
There's legal, and there's what is done.
In my neck of the woods, that house would last two-three years tops before a "mysterious fire" erased the gains of the chortling landowner who got the labor for free.
Try to get the labor AND the materials for free? Just asking for trouble.
Yeah, yeah - I know the builder was a buffoon. I would hope the new homeowner/landowner would tread that minefield carefully.
So, you show up on your property and see some guy building a house. Not the house you wanted, designed or paid for.
You could make him tear it down and start over on the right property.
Or you could make an offer that gets the builder out of his problem. By making that offer, you just bought a house that you may or may not be ready or able to afford.
So you’re honestly trying to tell me that you would go $250,000 in debt to keep some guy from being mad at you or you’d expect that guy to burn your house down. I’ve heard some weird stuff before but dude, you’re nuts.
Go get a Gimme Hat in green with the letters:
Grab a Bullhorn. Drive into the driveway step out and using the Bullhorn say: ICE, stay where you are at. In a few Milliseconds the entire crew will be out of sight except for the Smoke Trails they leave.
As a plus you should end up with a set of Crew Tools, Job Trailer with Air Compressor, assorted hoses and other things and Personal Tool Bags with Tools. Then You can start up a Legal Roofing Biz.
the magic green hat...
Spring for the materials and figure his time at $20 an hour.
Everybody is happy, though the builder will only be half as happy as he may have been.
So youre honestly trying to tell me that you would go $250,000 in debt to keep some guy from being mad at you or youd expect that guy to burn your house down. Ive heard some weird stuff before but dude, youre nuts.
This is the "so" tell for cognitive dissonance.
You wanted the house anyway, don't tempt Providence. She can bite back sometimes.
10 to 15 bucks an hour for his time.
And 30 years ago, a home with labor and materials would have been nowhere NEAR $250,000.
That's just crazy talk.
Im done arguing with you
I’m done arguing with you, “free stuff with no strings attached” guy.
I would have shot at them
