You aren’t looking long range enough.
If the socialists can run their own ticket and actually come out ahead of the Democrat nominee then they can set the eventual collapse of the Democrat Party in motion and later step in to fill the power vacuum.
They wouldn’t have to beat Trump to have a huge victory in the long game.

Mooch could jump in late to avoid vetting.
The responsibilities can be minimal if you do not really care about the country.

Weld isn’t even a blip in Texas and Texas is an open primary state.
I fully expect that conservatives in Texas will step up to help the Democrat party feel the Bern.
And if you go back and look at my posting history right after the Democrat convention of 2016, you will see that I predicted back then that this would be where we would be now.
Well, here we are and things have played out exactly as I thought (because it was obviously where the Democrat/Socialist rift was going even back then) and I have spent the last three and a half years convincing people of the benefits of forcing the Democrats to accept Bernie Sanders as their nominee in the same way that Democrats used open primaries to make McCain and Romney the Republican nominees.

“I take anyone who quotes a Quinnipiac poll to be a Pollyanna, or to be someone who believes that the reader is one”
Steve Bannon believes the polls. I live in appalachian coal mine territory and you would not believe how many coal workers want Bernie or other anti fossil fuel nominees.
I restore old cars and a facebook friend restores antique cars and he is 100% for Bernie.
Just because no one in your tight circle is voting dem does not mean it’s happening.
This is going to be a tight race and if the economy goes into a recession Trump will be gone.

I have said that since day 1. Veteran, woman, pro abortion, and she is perceived to be moderate by the public.

Bernie Sanders doesn't plan for any of that to be necessary. Hes poised to do well on Super Tuesday, when 1,617 delegates are at stake, nearly one-third of all delegates.
It's clear that any attempt to draft someone / appoint someone / anoint someone to supplant Sanders as the nominee will fail. He'll have to be beaten the old fashioned way -- the ballot box, or the local coroner's report.

Yes they could do that, but I am not convinced that long range planning is in their tool kit.

I don't see Michelle Obama. She's living a lavish lifestyle with a house on Martha's Vineyard and half the billionaire's in the world's private jets at her disposal to whisk her off to Tahiti when she gets bored. She's never accomplished anything of any merit on her own in her lifetime and has fallen into this lavish lifestyle by virtue of marrying Barack who happened to be the democratic cabal's hand picked manchurian candidate. She's at least smart enough to thank her lucky stars for getting where she is by accident, she knows enough to keep her mouth mostly shut and enjoy the riches that are lavished upon her. She's not going to give that up for a job that requires you to be out of bed more than half the day.
Hillary worries me a lot more. She's still reeling from her spanking last time and wants to be called to "save" the democratic party. She's got an ego that just won't die.

Michelle Obama is never going to run for anything. Anyone who says she is is an idiot. Michelle Obama hates politics, and wanted to get out of D.C. as soon as possible. She is not Hillary. She has no political ambition.

Bernie was never screwed. He lost fair and square. Berniebots think black voters shouldn’t have a say.

They will screw Bernie for sure, but it won’t be Hillary or Moochele, it will be a retired Dem establishment “statesman”.
Hillary and Moochele are too disruptive and incompetent.
