Former Vice President Joe Biden said Sunday he would contest the presidential primary nomination at the Democratic convention if Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is leading in delegates without securing a majority.
The rules have been set, Biden said on CNNs State of the Union.
Biden questioned Sanders take that the candidate with a plurality of pledged delegates the convention should become the nominee.
I wonder where that view was when he was challenging Hillary when she went in with a commanding lead, Biden added. You don't change the rules in the middle of the game.
Sanders is the only candidate in the field this year to insist that the candidate with the most pledged delegates should be the party nominee. He held the opposing view in 2016 when facing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Bidens commitment to challenge the nomination comes after he won his first primary in South Carolina on Saturday.
Biden is trailing Sanders in the number of pledged delegates as the candidates head into Super Tuesday, when the largest number of states will hold primaries and caucuses including Texas and California.

The let Castro-Sanders bern them with third party run.
Or a call to sit this one out if theyre not going to treat old man Jewish socialists fairly
Lawless, hypocritical, move the goal posts Democrats comes to mind.
Bernie is just bargaining for a bigger payoff
The battle for Shady Brook is on. Croakin Joe Biden versus the Red Diaper Baby Sanders.
That doesn’t mean you don’t wrap that around their necks and repeat it from now until election day.
> There is no obligation for a nominating process to be democratic. <
Right. Its completely up to each party. A party could pick its candidate by holding a wrestling match if it wanted to. I just find it amusing that the Democrat party would have undemocratically chosen superdelegates.
By the way, I believe that the GOP has superdelegates as well. But they must vote the way their state voted in the primaries.
I agree, they want a brokered convention so they can shoehorn in their preferred candidate. I think they are doing this because they want Trump to focus his campaign against the current lineup. They probably think it will blindside his campaign by putting their candidate in at the last minute. It won’t, it will hurt them in the end. The Bernie followers will stay home after seeing their party rob Bernie a second time. I have a feeling they will try to put in Hillary Clinton or Michael Obama. This would be the final nail in the coffin for the demo party. IMHO.
That backfired last time (he endorsed Crooked late, and supporters didn’t follow him enough); I don’t think he intends to be stopped this time.
I only read the headline, and immediately thought of this. Go, Slow Joe.

Projection, anyone?!
> I dont think he [Sanders] intends to be stopped this time. <
I agree. Sanders was a long-shot back in 2016. But hes the favorite now. And he may well go into the convention with a plurality of the delegates. He wont be bought off this time.
Even if he’s not the favorite by the time the convention rolls around, in the end, he isn’t even a Democrat - he’s staunch communist, and this may be his last chance to make a name for himself (even as a loser in the general election). I believe he took a lot of heat, and lost a lot of credibility, by endorsing Crooked last time for thirty pieces of silver.
Democratic convention do we select the real bad or the worst?.
“so that the Super-delegates can name the nominee. “
super-delegates make up less than 15% of the total delegates (primary + super) ... so their role is not all-powerful ... a candidate must arrive at the convention with at least 41% of the primary delegates and win ALL super-delegates to overcome a candidate with more than 41% of the primary delegates but less than a majority of the primary delegate ...
So basically your post can be accurately condensed to “Bernie Sanders isn’t a Democrat, He’s a staunch Democrat.”
Our opponent definitely has appeared.
And it’s Dinobernie.
Far from “moderates” uniting behind Biteme, we are more likely to see Dinobernie’s handlers cut some deals before the convention to solidify the outliers.
Wonder how guttedge feels about this? I mean he did say the won with the most popular votes should win. I guess that only applies when he is not leading with the most delegates or he is not winning period
Oh boy, this is great!
And you thought the DNC was set up to implement a democratic process? Really? It is a corrupt organization that because of the dominance of essentially a two-party system, yields tremendous power. It is an organization set up to, among other things, nominate a presidential candidate every four years. It's no different than the Green Party, the Constitution Party, or the Party for Socialism and Liberation, except the DNC has tentacles so deep into the government, it makes, changes and plays by its own rules.
